I purchased this item after a different (more expensive) notebook stand didn't prove stable enough for my DJ needs. Assembly instructions are confusing, but can be figured out. Once built, it makes my dj gigs so much easier. Real estate for your gear is often very much an issue, since laptop djs are an afterthought in many venues. This holds my Audio 4 DJ sound card & my widescreen HP laptop with a minimum of space. Also, the angle is perfect supporting the laptop. Mine is quite top-heavy with the screen open, so there's a danger of the laptop falling backwards, but not with this model. I did add extra security by putting velcro strips at the front of the stand and my laptop, but most folks shouldn't need to do that. Since my laptop's my life, though, I didn't want to take any chances.

Some may not like that this unit doesn't collapse easily for travelling, but overall, it's being ready to throw on a table and start setting up is a plus for me. It also has many different height settings so you can configure it just how you like. Tall enough so on a standard 28-30" height table, you can look at the screen w/o crouching - and still keep your eyes on the crowd.

I'm not easy to please with these stands, but I love this one.

I am impressed with how strudy this product is and the way the 2 levels are made, and that alone warrants a 4-star review. However, here are some of the things I was less impressed with: (1) The packaging (seemed like I was sent a taped up box that had previously been opened). (2) The instructions (there were none! I had to watch online youtube videos for instructions on how to assemble it). (3) My laptop doesn't rest completely flat on the top level because the 2 top bars don't sit even. I might be my assembly, but I don't think so. Other than that, it's exactly what I wanted and expected.

I bought this to lift my lap tops off the table on my work station. It works great and keeps everything cool. I have even used it for a few DJ gigs.

I wish it were collapsible but i know what I was getting before I even bought it, so no complaints

The product itself is solid. It is well made but instructions were completely neglected as others have mentioned. However, this product is far superior than the Pyle version of this stand and this Odyssey stand will let you slide the it underneath a DJ cofin, mixer, etc. and withstand rough use on the laptop during gigs. Also, the way the stand is pictured in all of its ads and packaging is not the most secure way of putting this stand together. I have uploaded a very poor image of my setup, but I think you can get the idea. After 5 different configurations, I finally found a way where this stand is stable, solid, and even.

Looking at my picture, when constructing this stand, lay it on the green side to the floor when tightening the screws. This will ensure you will get a stand that will stand square. My first couple of tries and I had a skewed standing stand. Second, use the cross bar (and 2 extensions) at the base of the stand. This helps tremendously for stability. Third, when you put the two L shaped pieces together, make sure you have at least 2 holes which will overlap each other. The bottom of the 2 holes will be for the 2nd cross bar (and 2 extensions) and the top hole will be for just the knob and thumb-nut (not sure what you call this) which attaches to the shelf. Ensure that the shelf edges goes on the outside of the two L shaped pieces.

It definitely was trial-and-error, but I finally got the configuration that I am happy with. One con is that this stand doesn't collapse for easy transportation. I wish someone could have provided this information in the first place, although I didn't scour the web for how-to's on this stand.

Adquiri este stand y me parece excelente, resistente, te ahotrra espacio. Lo unico en contra es el peso, pero de resto lo recomiendo.

This stand is Horrible!!!.
Do not buy this to use with your laptop.
I purchased this item, assembled according to the sparse instructions.
Sat my 15" Acer laptopm which weighs less than 10lbs.
I tightened the knobs one more time just to make sure.
Voila!!! My laptop hit the floor.
Thank Goodness the laptop was not powered up.

Odyssey, you make great cases, this may not be your lane...

there were not enough instructions at all, you have to use your imagination to built that thing, one of the important parts was missing, but when you finally built it, it is good and stable, it easily caries my mac book pro 15" and my tc konnekt 24D sound card, it has also two external items that you can use to stabilize it to your desk which makes it more strong and stable.

I was looking for a replacement of a similar item that I misplaced the flat table top pieces for.
For the money and to come with the additional shelf it's a great buy. My only concern was with the threading at the ends for the extensions. 2 of them did not screw in properly and popped apart. I tried different combinations to no avail. Thankfully I used the pieces from my old unit to make it work properly.
Hopefully, just my own bad luck as most people may not have extra parts lying around and it's not like you can run to your local hardware store to get them.
I used it this weekend at a local club I dj at and it was sturdy and secure. The shelf was wide enough to fit my external hard drive and external sound card.
Would've been 5 stars if not for the extension piece issue.

geat stnd nice and sterdeay holds most laptops takes a little while to figure out how to put together but once you figure it out not a bad product.

It's a great stand. Easy with lots of possible mounting options. I personally use the table clap option and works great. You can also slide it under your mixer or clap it on to a case. To change from the different styles of mounting you need a screwdriver. So keep that in mind if you travel like I do. No folding option on this model. Directions for assembly are some of the worst I've received. After a while of looking at the picture you get an idea on how to assemble it. Aside from that it makes a great addition to my setup. Not to mention free up space on the table.
