Opening Too Small for Some Bottles,
By

This review is from: Oenophilia Wine Bottle Tags Cellar Set
The opening in these wine tags is too small to fit over the neck of some Burgundy- and Rhone-style bottles. Another 1/32" in diameter is all that is needed, so sandpapering the opening fixes the problem at the cost of some elbow grease.
Some example bottlings for which this problem exists are: -- Carmel Road 2007 Monterey Pinot Noir -- Landmark 2008 "Grand Detour" Pinot Noir -- MacRostie 2007 Carneros Chardonnay -- Merry Edwards 2009 Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc -- Turnbull 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

We have a small collection of wine stored in cabinet. These labels make it very easy to find & select the bottle we are looking for.

This was what it was advertised to be. Worked great - agree with the one minor complaint about it being too small of a diameter to fit over larger top bottles but I only had that problem on 2 out of nearly 100 bottles, and they still fit over the lip with a little bit of pressure. Each tag has a "red" label on one side and "white" on the other side so a tag can be used for either red or white. Sturdy plastic that can be used again and again.

This is a must for those of us who age our wines or who have a collection of wines. Easy to use and wipes clean and ready for next wine bottle (just be sure to use the pens which are included in the package).

These are very nice wine tags made of sturdy plastic and come in a storage box. I did not use the marker since I chose to print out reusable labels instead. I would definitely recommend these!

Elegant solution to labeling bottles stored in mixed cases or horizontal racks. Like the flip-flop red/white sides (9-out-of-10 of mine use the "red" side). The supplied marker pen is a little clumsy - I prefer a finepoint Sharpie. It's a struggle to get these over the necks of really heavy bottles (also usually the bottles you want the most to have labels). In the last resort I found that cutting the label works although once cut the label is more likely to fall off. Easy to recycle - a light scrub with Ajax (not Comet)will bring the writing clean off. I have now used all 100, a clear signal to drink more, buy less!

Decent tags. Have plasticky feel and look. The opening is too narrow for 50% of my bottles, so I have to cut it open to hang it. It's annoying ,and the tags then fall off when you move the bottles around. The nib of the pen that arrives with the product is too thick. You need to use a ultra fine Sharpie. Also, the pen's ink is not erasable. I ended up using a pencil.I bought two boxes and tossed most of them out. They were just too much of a hassle to deal with.

100 tags for a great price, comes with 2 small (which is good) whiteboard pens. Good size, sturdy construction, bright white for easy reading in often dark spaces where wine is stored.
Small complaint? Red/Green color blindness is common - and that is the designation for red/white wine. Poor choice. Large printed letters in black or RED or WHITE would be much more sensitive to the 9% of northern European men with this condition. |
