Editorial Reviews

Review

Has a unique twist that I think is bold and innovative. The author address the biggest problem beginners have: the lack of confidence to jump in and create. If one were to follow along with the exercises, one would be liberated emotionally and creatively. The instructions are how-to techniques, not just step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce a specific project. The diagrams are clear and well thought out. This is a good, down-to-earth workbook for those wanting to learn embellishment, or for those who are experienced and just beginning to teach others. I can see many artists, including myself, referring to this book many times for technical information as well as inspiration. -- Lapidary Journal, Sharon Bateman, October 1997.

Nancy Eha offers a unique experience for beaders. In addition to detailed instructions for dozens of stitches and techniques, the author offers the reader a series of creative "Trails" to explore their own creativity. The key here is to "developing and strengthening" creative trails in order to progress to a higher level of artistry. Beaders are seldom offered such a chance to expand their thinking. Step-by-step instructions for sewing processes are also included as well as recommendations for purchasing and using supplies. -- Jewelry Crafts Magazine, November/December 1997

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Refreshing, June 13, 2000

If you are looking for a pattern book, this is not it. However, if you are looking for ways to expand your creativity with beads, this is the book for you. While teaching you new ways (such as sticky lollipops and telephone poles) to applique beadwork on fabric, counted canvas and whatever your creativity dictates you are given "assignments" to open you up to new paths of creativity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book! A "Must Buy" for Novices and Experts Alike, May 1, 2004

This review is from: Off The Beadin' Path: Discovering Your Own Creative Trail of Bead Embellishment (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I bought this book after learning how to do a couch stitch. After one night of beading, I had learned many different stitches and was creating works I didn't think I could do! This book is a "must buy" for any new beader and I can't help but think that it would also be a good book for anyone who has been beading for a while but needs some new ideas. I checked out several beading books, and really believe this is the most helpful! Thank you Nancy! You've inspired me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Off The Beadin' Path, June 13, 2000
This review is from: Off The Beadin' Path: Discovering Your Own Creative Trail of Bead Embellishment (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I loved this book! Nancy starts by exploring ways to allow your own creativity to come through. Then once that's tackled, she's on to lots of creative ways to use beads - from bead applique, to adding texture, fringe, edgeing, and sculpting. Her directions and diagrams are thorough and inspirational. Just looking through the book makes me want to go play with my beads some more. I think you'll really like the book.
