Book Description

Candice Gunderson and her purebred pooch, Phoebe, are driving through the Indiana countryside on their way to an appointment with a dog breeder. If all goes as planned, the “meeting” with Charles the Conqueror will result in a lovely litter of puppies.

Unfortunately, Candice is hopelessly lost, the GPS in her car has gone haywire, and she needs to find a bathroom in the worst way. The pair pulls up alongside a little house in hopes of finding some helpful inhabitants.

What she finds is Bull Ramsey, a cute farmer, and his mutt, Jack, who is more than happy to have a “meeting” of his own with Phoebe.

Candice is determined to maintain control of the situation and prove she is an independent woman. A few unexpected events and mischievous farm animals won’t interfere with her plans. She can handle this, right?

Dear Reader: Are you on your way to sit through another soccer practice? Looking forward to a soak in the tub? Did you just finish an intense read and your mind is a bit frazzled? Well, I’d like to suggest this sweet romance novella for your reading pleasure. Off Leash is a light, quick read full of silliness, dogs, budding romance, and maybe even a goat or two. The story is 27,000 words or approximately 80 print pages. You have just enough time for that.

Enjoy.

~ Jenna

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read, but hard to like protagonist December 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I received this book as a free gift in exchange for an honest review.

Here's my problem-- there's a lot of things to like about this little novella. I love bichons and own one, and Phoebe was downright cute! There are several moments that really work-- like when Candice meets Mark's mom for the first time, when she starts really figuring out what is important to her, etc. But then there are the moments that didn't really work for me. I never really liked Candice that much. I figured out by the end that she was making this journey to figure out who she was, but by the time I started to warm up to her, 80% of the book was over. I was still wondering why Mark put up with her for so many hours. He's a good guy, I know, but most good guys I know would have been nice to her but have been very turned off by her snobbish attitude and overall ridiculous behavior towards someone who has been bending over backwards for her.

I almost think this book would have worked better not as a romance, but an exploration of this character and why she made the journey she did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming and fun July 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Romance is not normally my choice of literature, but this really was a fun read. It is a well-written, charming little tale that skips along with plenty of colour and smiles. I liked the characters and setting very much, and enjoyed the inclusion of the goats, dogs and cats. I highly recommend this little story for an afternoon's read. I have no hesitation in awarding it 5 stars. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun, light, whimsical romance July 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Normally I read more intense, gritty, hard-hitting tales, but I was looking for something light and fun. Off Leash is smooth, fluid and playful, and the author presents some amusing topics with tact, grace and style. Tightly edited and cleanly written, this is an enjoyable read with likeable characters in a charming little romance that delivers everything it promises. If you're looking for something short and very sweet, this is it!

I'm a full time mom, wife, sister, & friend. Throw in a little housework, an irritating lapdog, the need to watch every episode of Forensic Files & I guess you could call me a busy woman. There are just not enough hours in the day. My escape is writing. I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

The vintage photo is of my mom & was taken in the mid 40's. I think she looks like a movie star. She was my inspiration to write. Don't let any of the pictures of me fool you - Photoshop is an amazing thing.
