There are a lot of books available about breast cancer but none as personal and intimate as Genae Girard's "Off The Rack". Ms. Girard takes readers on her unexpected journey with the "alien" that has entered her thirty- something year old body without invitation. With heart and humor, Ms. Girard shares with us very personal feelings about her diagnosis, treatment and reconstruction. Until I read this book I had no idea what breast cancer patients experience. Though no one can fully understand without walking in their shoes, I certainly understand a lot more after reading this book.

I have had the pleasure of meeting the author and must say that the book is just as dynamic as she is. Her book is written in a conversational manner and speaks to everyone who has or has had breast cancer. It is realistic, uplifting and such a change from much of what is on the market these days. You will finish the book and want more of the humor and positive attitude. I just hope she keeps writing with this type of style....refreshing and magnetic. Treat yourself to her words and philosophy. You won't be disappointed!

Even though I was a caregiver through my fiancee's breast cancer, sometimes she didn't or couldn't share everything she felt. Reading this book was eye opening and easy to read, and very humorous at times. Cancer isn't a laughing matter, but the author writes with a humorous tone and through her writing, lightens the seriousness of the situation in a positive way.

I was Dx 10/01/10. I was lost. Everything I read on the internet was just as depressing as my new news. I cant even remember how many books I purchased, but what I can remember is that they all made me more scared then informed... Then I found "Beyond The Boobie Trap" and I knew things were going to be okay. I laughed so hard that I cried (a GOOD cry). I recently went back a re-read the book, now that treatment is over and I am trying to get back to "normal" and Genae was sooooo right in every thought. This booked helped me through a lot! Thank you Ms. Genae!

As a Breast Cancer Survivor I can honestly say that this is by far THE BEST BOOK describing what we as women live through during and after our treatment!!! It is by far IMPOSSIBLE to explain how we feel if one doesn't live through it!!! Breast Cancer changes everything.... not only the patient who is going through it but our spouses (or boyfriends), our children, our parents,friends, etc!!!! The author describes what we go through and relays in sometimes a humorous way that ..... ONCE A WOMAN IS STRICKEN WITH BREAST CANCER WE ARE NEVER THE SAME EVEN AS A SURVIVOR.... we just have to accept "the new norm"!!!! That's Life and it is certainly better than the alternative!!!

It is a quick read and I commend the author (Genae Girard) for her complete honesty about this TERRIBLE disease and I also commend her for all the support that we as patients, survivors or whatever receive on the Blog that she created.... BEYONDTHEBOOBIETRAP.COM.

Off the Rack chronicles the life of a young, single, breast cancer survivor. Genae speaks candidly in her book and lets the truth be her guide. I read this book before I had a double mastectomy and it was extrememly helpful in building my confidence to move forward. This is a must Read for anyone in the battle of their life and this is not a depressing cancer book, you will be uplifted and filled with HOPE.

Genae takes you with her on her journey to beating breast cancer. She gives you her own funny perspective on this not so funny disease. You will laugh and cry with her through out the book, yet, if you are newly diagnosed, the fear factor will be greatly reduced!

A great summer/beach read!

this book said everything i was feeling! definitley read this if you or someone you love is dealing with cancer

When I finished Off The Rack on my Kindle, I said to myself "Finally, a from the heart journey thru breast cancer!" I am a 4 year survivor or should I say warrior. Although I was older, but not wiser, I had many of the same thoughts and fears. Bravo!

In this book, Genae takes a very personal journey through breast cancer, mastectomy, and post-surgical life as a single woman. With humor, she endured her ordeal. She helps all of us see a little bit of humor in our own fights with breast cancer. Thanks, Genae, for allowing us to laugh about this!
