The Clint Eastwood review
on April 8, 2012
The good: The flashlight mount fits a 1" flashlight very tight, like a scope mount would. As expected the mount came with a hex key to mount the flashlight. If positioned at the front of the top rail on an AR15, the flashlight throws the light beam clearly, with only a slight shadow from the muzzle, but this is to the bottom right (for right handed shooter) where it is of little consequence.
The bad: The nut that holds the mount to the rail was too large for the threads, and thus was stripped while HAND TIGHTENING it. I will not bother trying to replace this through the merchant or NCStar, I will just find a correct size nut at the hardware store.
The ugly: The mount is bulkier than I would have liked. While it does not obstruct the sight picture, it is still a distraction.
Final thoughts: For the price I would buy again, but if I had more money to spend on a Flashlight mount, I would buy a Troy Industries.
