Once i picked up "OFF THE STREETS" I put all other readings on hold until this book was completed & processed. I read it in no time & reflected on it for 2days!! The story is Dark & Beautiful, Good Vs Evil, Light Vs Dark, Ying & The Yang in more ways than one.

It was an interensting viewpoint into a city that hides so much from it's visitors. An updated detective story that reads like a modern day narrative movie made from a comic book.

I read it one sitting. In fact, I got a sunburn because I was by the pool and couldn't put it down until I finished. Chris tells a story like a movie with one major difference: this one is real. Everything you thought you knew about pimps and prostitutes is wrong,  A must read for anyone!

Detective Baughman does an excellent job at entertaining and informing about Human Trafficking. Shows why prostitution is not a victimless crime.
- FREE/FREE International

Baughman’s commitment to being a cop renders this book unforgettable. I couldn't put it down, and neither will you.
- John Lescroart, NY Times Bestseller author

Real people, shattered dreams, stolen lives. A story of Detectives Baughman's calling to fulfill his mission from God.
- Bill Hartness, Homicide Detective

A must purchase book about Human Trafficking. It will keep you intrigued all the way to the end.
- Regina Porter - Special Victims Unit, Victim Advocate

Detective Baughman harnesses his passion to give us a gripping glimpse into his dark world of Human Trafficking. We walk away with a brighter outlook knowing there are cops like Baughman out there.
- Andy Cashman - Network Television Producer

A powerful view from the inside of Human Trafficking. Readers won't be able to set this aside or get it out of their minds.
- J. Ross Baughman, Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist and author

Detective Baughman has created a eye opening 'MUST read' about the seedy underworld of Human Trafficking.
- Lieutenant Karen D. Hughes LVMPD - Vice Section

Back in the 80s my family had the house that all of my sons friends used as a hangout. Christopher Baughman was very good friends with my son Matthew and my stepsons Teddy & Delow. One thing I always loved about Chris was that he was very polite and very well mannered. As a room mother I drove all the class trips and Chris always rode with us. I always liked talking to Chris even as a young teenager he always had great sense of humor and a remarkable voice for singing in the choir. When my son Matt ran into him a year ago he told me that Chris was writing a book. Knowing that I love to read I could hardly wait to get my hands on Chris's book. My copy arrived on Tuesday and I litterly devoured it. I was so amazed at how great a book it is. That I ordered 7 copies for friends and The Nevada Cancer Institute so that the patients could escape the world of cancer treatment and ride along with Chris. Off The Streets takes you behind the scenes and exposes you to the lives of prostitutes and the pimps that control them. You feel for the brutal abuse these women take and the fears that are very real. It is comforting to know that men like Detective Christopher Baughman have the intelligence and the morals to fight the horrible villians. As you read this book you are sitting right next to Chris and seeing the world thru his eyes. Every where I go I show people the book and tell them read this and you will learn some interesting facts about Las Vegas. I know my review must sound like the proud mom and in a way I am truly proud of Chris. Author Author Bravo Detective Christopher Baughman

Off the Street is a riveting read about things we don't talk much about... pimps, pandering and prostitution! You will be changed as you read the heart wrenching stories of the real women on these pages. It's a fantastic read, but that's just the beginning. Detective Baughman is shining a neon light on an issue that every community should pay attention to! I challenge you to read it...

I received this book from Amazon and read it in under 24 hours. This is a story that will leave you reeling with the realization of what really goes on behind the glamorized pimping underworld. It is a place of venomous hate, sinister violence, inflated egos, and brutal greed. Written with conviction, by a man who not only seeks to bring down a dirty business, but educate the public, and protect the victims who are in the crossfire. Prior to reading this book, I have had the pleasure of meeting Chris through my work with domestic violence victims. He is a man of integrity, and I am blown away by his (and P.I.T.'s) dedication to the annihilation of these criminals' lives, as well as going above and beyond to support the brutalized women. If you enjoy shows such as "CSI" or "Law and Order," this is a very entertaining read, filled with horrific bloody scenes, creative detective work, and an array of quirky characters. If you want to educate your sisters and daughters, in order to save them from being conned into a life resulting in imminent emotional and potentially physical death, it is a crucial read. For those currently residing in the pristine areas of Vegas, emotionally prepare yourself that evil could be lurking next door, as you may see a highly organized police force raiding your neighbor's house. After all, a competent pimp does make around $1 million a year...

The events that the author portrays in this book hit you with exponentially intense impact as you realize they are all true!

In my opinion, Detective Christopher Baughman writes on par with a voice equal to any of today's crime or suspense novelists as he paints a vivid picture of both the underbelly of Las Vegas as well as the often comical, emotional, and justice driven relationships with his team and other members of law enforcement.

It is the victims though, that you find yourself caring and rooting for realizing that this life of a prostitute is not what one generally imagines when looking from the outside in; often victims they are effectively enslaved through violence and threats. I found myself transcending into a mental state of a champion for these women with a strong burning desire for the quick and just demise of the story's real life villain and pimp, Anthony Smith (may he rot in prison then in hell).

Bravo Detective Baughman! Bless you for what you do for the city of Las Vegas and thank you for a book that gives us a virtual ride-along to experience it with you!

Two months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Detective Christopher Baughman of the Las Vegas Police Department in person and chatting with him about his book, "Off the Street." (to be released September 2011). You see Detective Baughman is the lead for the Las Vegas PD's Pandering Investigation Team, part of Las Vegas Vice, and his book details the team's first case. His mild manner belays his internal fire to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. Our discussion ranged from technologies described in his book, to human trafficking situation in Las Vegas where literally hundreds of vulnerable children and adults are manipulated into the sex trade. I also asked his permission to share the review pre-publication, to which he agreed.

Book Review
(the author provided to me a an advance copy of this book at no charge, I have received no compensation from the author and the review is provided voluntarily):

The slogan is "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" suggesting that a bit of naughtiness is acceptable when visiting or living in today's Las Vegas. Perhaps the slogan should be "What happens in Vegas has a seedy underbelly, can you see it?" In Detective Christopher Baughman's "Off the Street" the reader does just that, you see it. In this first-person account, the reader is taken into Baughman's background, you meet his mentors, you experience his passion for keeping the city safe and you are walked through a criminal case which exemplifies the difficulty facing law enforcement in Las Vegas (and no doubt replicated across the nation) as they address the human flesh market.
