In my opinion, Detective Christopher Baughman writes on par with a voice equal to any of today's crime or suspense novelists as he paints a vivid picture of both the underbelly of Las Vegas as well as the often comical, emotional, and justice driven relationships with his team and other members of law enforcement.
It is the victims though, that you find yourself caring and rooting for realizing that this life of a prostitute is not what one generally imagines when looking from the outside in; often victims they are effectively enslaved through violence and threats. I found myself transcending into a mental state of a champion for these women with a strong burning desire for the quick and just demise of the story's real life villain and pimp, Anthony Smith (may he rot in prison then in hell).
Bravo Detective Baughman! Bless you for what you do for the city of Las Vegas and thank you for a book that gives us a virtual ride-along to experience it with you!

The slogan is "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" suggesting that a bit of naughtiness is acceptable when visiting or living in today's Las Vegas. Perhaps the slogan should be "What happens in Vegas has a seedy underbelly, can you see it?" In Detective Christopher Baughman's "Off the Street" the reader does just that, you see it. In this first-person account, the reader is taken into Baughman's background, you meet his mentors, you experience his passion for keeping the city safe and you are walked through a criminal case which exemplifies the difficulty facing law enforcement in Las Vegas (and no doubt replicated across the nation) as they address the human flesh market.Read more ›
