I bought 6 of these...seemed to be pretty awesome...one day pick up a guitar to find that the "coating" on the hanger is breaking down and had mared the finish of the headstock...I checked all of them and they were also in various stages of the same breakdown. Very upset about the lack of quality of materials used!

I used these as part of a project to hang and display my guitars in my home. However, I hung the guitars at a 45-degree angle and installed an additional support for the body of the guitars. I was worried that using a guitar hanger to only support the neck might eventually be too much stress and cause harm. I recommend these hangers because they are constructed of heavy-duty rubber (provides stability), offer flexibility with the moveable/removeable/rotating angle, and they are relatively easy to install.

I liked the first Off The Wall Guitar hanger so much that I bought a second. Great way to store guitars and free up space.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hangers Are the Best I've Found, June 6, 2009
By
I have a lot of guitars and basses, both electric and acoustic, and I love them one and all. I find that when instruments are in a case, in the closet, or under the bed, they just don't get played as often as they should. But when I have them out in plain sight and within easy reach, I tend to play them much more often. Besides which, they are great to look at and when displayed properly can actually be an attractive interior design element.

I have tried various wall hangers over the years, but I prefer the Off the Wall hanger and use them exclusively now (I have six of them in my music room and around the condo). They are sturdy and functional, of course. The swivel action of the hanger lets the instrument find its proper balance. The hanger is simple (love the triangular base) and non-obtrusive---they let the instrument be the focus, not the hanger. The swivel portion is permanently covered with a smooth high-grade vinyl material which is much nice looking than the usual plastic sleeves on many hangers. The base is heavy solid metal---with the look and feel of cast iron.

I agree with the other reviewer that the screws and sleeves that come with the hanger, while functional, can be improved upon. I used the original hardware when I first mounted the hangers, then this year when I moved to a new place, I went to the hardware store and bought a different screws and inserts for a couple of bucks.

The product comes in standard and large sizes. The larger size works perfectly for five or six string basses, like my Roscoe Beck. The smaller size works great for all standard electric or acoustic guitars. If only they would make a mandolin sized model, I would definitely buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy., January 4, 2007

Great product for holding guitars but I needed it for a dulcimer. The neck of the dulcimer was to deep to fit the hook.Strong and secure for holding guitars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best hanger out there, January 5, 2012

I have 4 of these. Two are in my daughter's bedrooms holding their guitars. If it is within reach it will get played more often than when stored in the case! I have 2 in my music room where I store the 2 guitars that I am using at the time for recording and jamming. I am pretty picky about mounting hardware and I think the supplied stuff is pretty good. I have hung a lot of stuff on drywall and I am happy with this hardware and did not feel the need to get anything different. I bet I could do a pull-up on these things!

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong enough to securely hold a 1976 D35 Martin guitar, January 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Off The Wall Guitar Hanger (for Standard Instruments)
I did a lot of research before deciding to buy this. It looked great in the pictures, and the real thing did not disappoint either.

I'm using it to hang my D35 Martin acoustic guitar on a dry wall. If hanged properly, the back of the guitar does not touch the wall (a great plus if you don't want white wall paint on your guitar).

The triangle shape helps for a secure fit to the wall. While some of the other comments here suggested to buy longer screws for a more secure fit, I used only the screws they provided in the package. The end-result is great and exactly what I would have expected - the fit is tight, and is strong enough to hold my guitar.

Great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars off the wall guitar hanger, July 24, 2010

This is the best type of guitar hanger that I have ever used. The hanger hooks at the end making sure that your axe doesn't slide off in case of a bump. There are no mis-hangs here because of the narrow bars and the rubberized grip on the hook. Buy, buy, buy if you want the best small guitar hanger in the industry.

I've used others and this is the best. Great hardware, heavy grade screws. I've hung heavy Bass's and won't hesitate to hang a $3000 guitar on the wall! I really like these and they make the room look awesome!
