Classic Dennis Miller!!!,

If you enjoy watching The Dennis Miller Show on HBO and/or have purchased The Rants or Ranting Again, you should also own a copy of The Off-White Album. The Off-White Album is the material from Dennis Miller's first comedy video. It is classic Dennis Miller. It has all of Dennis Miller's unique insights, references, and ranting. I recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of Dennis Miller. Of all the comedy albums I own, The Off-White album is the one I listen to the most. The material never seems to get old.

This is a usual comedy club monologue delivered by an unusual comedian. Warning: if you listen to this in the car, there was one bit that was so funny I almost drove off the road. It is only about an hour long, but worth it.

Classic Dennis Miller - and his best work yet!,

This 1988 album featuring the wise-guy, smart aleck Dennis Miller is much better than the Rants series, which was spiraling downhill to most people before 'The Rant Zone' in 2001 showed some new promise. Recorded during his SNL days, the crisp delivery and well timed humor of Dennis is perfect here. I wish he would have recorded more albums in the stand up format rather than books on tape that don't have an audience. It makes the listener enjoy the comedy much more. The album sound itself is mixed beautifully and deserves an A+, since many stand up comedy records seem to have to crowd louder than the performer. If you like Dennis Miller, get this album. Some of the material is a bit dated but it definitely stands up over time and does not make it suffer due to Miller's excellent style. The CD is only two tracks long, and this is a result of many late 80s CDs not yet being sophisticated to break down a comedy record into multiple topic tracks like they do now. Not a big deal though. It makes you remember the "Side A/B" from the cassette it was originally released on! 5/5 stars.

Recorded (I believe) circa 1986-88, this is brilliant Miller at the top of his craft. Very, very funny stuff and highly recommended for anyone's comedy collection.

The material, the delivery, all of it comes together in a very special performance. I've listened to this tape over and over again. It's great.

I like the idea of a tape being rebroadcast onto a CD. This was one like that, however a few small parts were left out (probably because of time restrictions but who knows) that would've put a couple more laughs into it. Other then that this gets an A+.

...Then you should get an audio version of one of his books, read by himself. I have the audio of "Rants." It's one of my favorite comedy recordings.

Remember the good ol' days when Dennis Miller was actually funny? Listening to this album again after so many years is a sobering reminder of how much of a sell-out he's become lately -- especially his recent HBO special which was shockingly awful. The Off-White Album is Miller at the top of his game, when he was still rockin' it on Weekend Update on SNL. He makes some great observations here... some really funny stuff, like his comments on his tour through the South (on Smokey and the Bandit: "The recurrent use of Dom DeLuise as Christ figure..."). This is one of the few comedy albums I can listen to again and again and still find funny. There are so many laugh out loud bits, even today! Check it out.

The Previous Reviewer,

I'm rating this CD 5 stars simply based on the apparent fact that the previous reviewer seems to have defied the laws of physics by crawling up his own ass. Dennis Miller is hilarious, whether attacking right-wing idealogues, stewardesses, pompous celebrities, or, hell, even left-wing facists (like the previous reviewer) who think comedians are funny only if they toe the liberal line.

I think Dennis Miller is one of the brightest comedians out there today, but this CD is in no way representative of that. Given Miller's penchant for jamming as many pop-culture references into his monologues as possible, the material is very dated, and he seems to be relying on that and his ironic stance to carry him through--it gets kind of old. I listened to this once, and feel no need to revisit it again. Ten years or so down the road now, Miller has a cable tv show and has compiled his "Rants" into audiobook form (now up to three, as I remember)--these hold up much better. You can hear his mind working on more substantive material instead of the trivia, and he is just naturally funny in his ticked-off way. To put it plain--he has gotten better since this one.
