Possibly Third Day's Best...Ever,
By
This review is from: Offerings II: All I Have to Give (Audio CD)
1,000 words or less? My "short" review was quite a bit longer. You can find a copy of it here. I received a pre-release copy of this CD several days ago, and listened (no exaggeration) for nearly 12 hours that day. I couldn't stop. Amazingly, this CD manages to capture the spirit of worship in a musical style that I can listen to LOUD, while driving, while working, while sleeping... It is incredible. It is 100% about worship - and each song goes about that in a different way. Some of them are on-your-knees, cry-your-heart out intimate, and some of them are stand and sing as loud as you can praise music. Some of them will depend on your current mood. It was almost scary in that each song sounded like it was meant for me that day - each one spoke right to me. The live tracks are mixed extremely well, which is good. Michael Tait singing with Mac on God Of Wonders adds a whole new dimension. The cover of You Are So Good To Me is probably the best I've ever heard anybody perform the song. I hesitate tos ay 'perform' because this isn't really about Third Day performing, it's about them worshiping and US worshiping. I honestly can't say enough about this album. Check out the link above for a more in-depth review.

A very good worship cd,

I have only been into Third Day for a couple months and i have a few cds. My favorite one was Come Together. Offerings 2 is my second favorite, but it had to grow on me a little bit. I wasn't amazed when i first heard it but after listening to it a few times i really appreciate the music and the lyrics. "May Your Wonders Never Cease" is my favorite track, and i also like the Medley song. I have to disagree with the other reviews and say that i think the live versions do sound different and "Nothing Compares" (live) is really good. The live versions have alot more energy than the original recordings. I lead worship at a few Bible studies and i am thankful for Third Day's songs. I use them alot. I hope that their next cd is like Come Together but i wouldn't be dissapointed with another worship album, either. And i also find it ironic that they call offerings "a worship album," because i think all of their cd's are worship albums. anyway, it is a very good cd and the more i hear it, the better it gets.

Third Day redefined worship CD's with their release of "Offerings", which gave us both live and studio tracks to work with. It's only fitting then that they return to that formula for "Offerings 2". This one has several great studio and live songs on it. "God of Wonders" is awesome, and it has Michael Tait (formerly of DC Talk) joining with them on it. My favorite song on this CD has to be "Medley", which has been a concert staple for years. A version of it originally appeared on "Live at the Strand" several years ago, but this one is equally good. They do a couple of covers (Waterdeep's "You Are So Good To Me" and Rich Mullins' "Creed") that really work well for them. All in all, this is the CD to buy for worship so far this year! Can't wait to see the DVD when it comes out!

Follow up as Praise Worthy as the First,

Following the huge success of their first worship oriented release in 2000, Third Day decided to release this follow up in 2003. While the title is pretty bad, everything else about it is just as wonderful as the first one was.Deciding not to mess with a winning and unique formula, this CD once again combines new studio recorded songs and live recordings of past hits. While the number of tracks is equal, they mix them up so that we get a variety. The CD opens with "Sing a Song," talking about our desire to worship God both with our song and with our lives. Other studio tracks include a cover of Waterdeep's "You Are So Good to Me," the semi-title track "Offering," the wonderfully contradictory "Anything," and "May Your Wonders Never Cease." The live tracks include several worship hits from Third Day since their last worship CD, like "Show Me Your Glory" and "God of Wonders." Also included is a cover of Rich Mullins' "Creed" and "Take My Life" from their original CD. I do have a complaint about the live songs on this CD. I feel like I'm being nit-picky, but it really does interfere with my enjoyment of some of the tracks. On several, but not all, of the live tracks, the audience can be heard cheering in the background throughout the entire song. While I know audiences make noise at a live concert and that's some of the charm of a live recording, it seems like it could have been mixed out for the majority of the songs. Fortunately, this isn't true on all of the live tracks, and I can usually get past this to enjoy the affected songs. But it's a shame this is true at all. Those who like original worship music with a bit of a rocky edge will love both of the worship CD's from this group. With easily learned music and thought provoking words, they are wonderful tools to lead you in worship.

A Hand Extended,
By Rob Hower (Annville, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Offerings II: All I Have to Give (Audio CD)
I have to, in all fairness, begin this review by stating that I have a complete bias for Third day. To my ears, the voice of Mac Powell is unable to set-forth anything BUT great songs. But, having said that, I have to go a step further and admit I'm waiting for Third Day to stumble (not spiritually - rather, to release a project that does not improve upon their last). So, it was with cautious ears that I put this new release into the CD player.I'm still amazed at the unassuming way Third Day has put this CD together. Show me any other release in the past year (or even decade) that begins with a phrase even remotely similar to "I forgot how to start ...". With the utterance of those words, Mac sets the pace for this very personal CD. It seems to have been written for each listener's personal worship experience. From the very first harmonic strains, you are invited to join with the band and "make a joyful noise" at full volume. The band is having fun lifting their talents to our Creator. There is no showmanship on the recording ... it is a caring band extending their hands to the listeners and in effect saying, "Let's Worship together!!" Each song has intrinsic value on this recording, and the variation of musical styles and recording methods makes it a "Must Own" for anyone and everyone. My personal favorite is "Offering" (Track 4) ... it highlights the absolute talent that flows through each member of this band. Third Day, thank you!!!

Another Great Worship Experience From Third Day,
By Brian Clay (Chattanooga, TN) - See all my reviews

This CD is a follow up to the sucessful Offerings CD from a few years ago. This CD mixes in a few new studio cuts with live performances of fan favorites (from the latest Come Together and Worship Tour). This CD takes you through a great praise and worship experience. Just listening to it gives me a hunger to praise and worship God and spend time in His Word. If you are a Third Day fan this is a must have...it definitely won't disapoint!

Strong follow-up to previous worship album,

Overall, I like the latest worship album from Third Day, but I do not find it as powerful as the first Offerings album. The live tracks are very good. I particularly like "God of Wonders", "Show Me Your Glory", "Take My Life" and "Creed". Unlike some other reviewers I am not all that crazy about the medley song - it tries to cover too much ground. Having seen Third Day in concert I would say that the live songs do a good job of capturing the worship atmosphere of a Third Day concert. The studio songs are all pretty good with "Sing a Song", "The Everlasting" and "You are so Good to Me" as my favorites. Like a few other reviewers I wish there were more true worship songs on the record, but I am still very pleased with the results. Third Day continues to grow as a band, and broaden their appeal to the modern Christian music audience. I recommend this album to any Third Day fan, especially if you have seen them live in concert on their recent tours. If you are new to Third Day, I would recommend either the original Offerings album, or Come Together as a better starting point.

I disagree with the review that states if you are a long time Third Day fan that this has nothing new to offer. THIS CD IS AWESOME! Yes, I could pull out all my other Third Day CD's and hear some of the songs of this one, and yes, they are different from the original recordings......That's the beauty of it! I can hear some of my favorites with a fresh new flavor. And as good as the recording of "God Of Wonders" on the "City on a Hill" CD is, this version sends the buzz of praise and worship all the way to your core! And "Creed"...WOW, I haven't played my car stereo that loud since the 80's!! I think this CD is a MUST HAVE for ANY Third Day fan.

I LOVE IT!,

I never was a big christian rock fan. My girlfriend got me hooked on these guys. I was kinda scepticle at first cause it was new to me, but I soon grew to love it. I've always believed in God and this cd really brings me closer. Now I know that if you look at any of the other cd's I've reviewed, non of them are christian rock or anything like that. Third Day is really the only christian rock band that I truley love. I've always loved heavy metal and hard rock and all of that but Third Day is the music I love when I wanna be happy or think about the things I love. Anyway, my girlfriend said that this cd is really awesome, so I checked out some songs off of it from my cousin in the car and stuff. I soon grew to love Third Day. So I went and bought Offerings 2 and it is now one of my favorite cd's. Some of my favorite songs off of Offerings 2 is: "sing a song", "offering" "the everlasting" and many many more. It's just a great cd. After really listening to it, it's really gotten me closer to my religion and the people I love. The songs are well written, catchy, and some are very meaningful and emotional and I love every bit of it. I love this cd and it's one of my favorites. I highly recomend it to anyone.
