More About the Author

I'm an avid reader who also writes.
Some recent publications: The First Starry Night, a picture book about van Gogh, and The Leap Years: Women Reflect on Change, Loss and Love (Beacon Press), which I coedited with Mary Anne Maier. I also write plays and poetry. Native American spirituality interests me, and I'm pleased when writers handle this subject with sensitivity. Hopelessly in love with books, I keep finding poetry, philosophy, plays, fiction and nonfiction, books for children and young readers, cozy mysteries and some poetry for my sagging shelves. Loren Eiseley's work has a place all its own, as does Ray Bradbury's.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Christmas Tradition, September 21, 2010
This review is from: Offerings in the Snow: A Christmas Story (Hardcover)
The first time I read Offerings in the Snow, I knew it would become a Christmas tradition for our family. Isom's characters are now old friends though they lived decades before I was born. The tale manages to make me laugh out loud and cry silently each time I read it. It leaves me open once again to the possibility that Christmas magic might really exist. This book has become a gift I give to others each Christmas, and rereading it has become a gift I give to myself.
