From the Publisher

Welcome to Wernham Hogg, a paper company stuck in dreary old Slough, where life is stationery. Critics and fans alike have lauded this hilarious, biting look inside the cubicle walls as a cult classic in the vein of This is Spinal Tap and The Larry Sanders Show.

Meet David Brent, the worst boss you'll never have. The wince-worthy regional manager thinks he's the funniest bloke around, and territorial yes-man, Gareth Keenan would undoubtedly agree. Self-proclaimed team leader Gareth is constantly bickering with witty nemesis Tim, an apathetic sales rep who wears his boredom on his sleeve. Tim is trapped in their ridiculous little world - but the center of his universe is lovely Dawn, the betrothed receptionist of his affection and the reason he returns each morning.

Will Tim escape the too white walls of The Office? Will Dawn choose the right man? Will MI-6 ever call on Gareth to help them out? And will David Brent ever regret letting a film crew into The Office? The answers, plus extra features including David Brent's e-mail correspondence and full music and lyrics for 'Freelove Freeway' are all inside the complete scripts to the first series of the phenomenally successful award-winning television series. (Plus, view the first series in its entirety on DVD, which is packed with great bonus features.)

Hell is other people...in The Office.

5.0 out of 5 stars The humor leaps off the page., June 12, 2004
This review is from: The Office: The Scripts Series 1 (Paperback)
One would imagine that the mere written words that make up The Office scripts would lack the dark humor and timing of the show. Fortunately that ain't the case as the scripts are just as funny and draw attention to elements that may go missed on the show. And from a writing point of view, it's interesting to see how well characters and situations are developed with the sole use of dialogue and minimal action description.

The scripts are printed on glossy paper with 2 or 3 high-res photos per page and are book-ended by funny e-mails and notices from David Brent himself. A definite must have for fans of The Office.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ideal present, October 1, 2003
This review is from: The Office: The Scripts Series 1 (Paperback)
This book, as you guessed i hope, is the scripts from the office series 1. All 6 episodes are here with a couple of color picture grabs on each page to keep you remebering the faces and the tone of the situation. If you like this sort of thing then i'm sure it will satisfy you. The great benefit of the presentation of this book is that you can give it as a present without looking like an idiot, i'm sure a present of a pulp paperback book of scripts would slightly horrify most people, this one edges into a 'thoughtful' gift.

The BEST thing about this book however is that you get the guitar tab for 'Freelove Highway' in it. Guitarists who do club performances etc... may find this a great little cover to do. Also, the guy who plays David Brent(the boss), Ricky Gervais, was in a band when he was younger. He really has been there, done that and got the t-shirt!
