4.0 out of 5 stars Pencil-pushers of the world unite!
I could've cried while watching "Office Space." When I wasn't laughing myself hoarse, I was reliving my daily despair through the poor souls onscreen. Using hard-core rap to express the frustration and anger of these STAGGERINGLY non-black characters is the perfect touch.

As to the tunes themselves: the soundtrack works about 75% of the time. "Big Boss...

3.0 out of 5 stars The real magic is in the movie
Some of the songs on this soundtrack, such as Damn, It Feels Good To Be a Gangsta and No Tears are catchy, but the thing that really makes the album a winner is the movie. Everytime I hear one of the tracks on the album, I think of the scene in the movie where that song was played, and that's what makes this album good. If the songs didn't remind me of the movie, I...

"Big Boss Man" and "9-5" don't do a lot for me. "Down for Whatever" makes the scene when used in the film. Mike Judge was smart enough not to just make fun of white guys listening to rap; he used rap to convey how badly these cubicle-bound saps want to break out of their lives. Geto Boys' "Still" is, well, a pretty hostile track.

You'll get whiplash the first time going from "Still" to Perez Prado's jubilant "Mambo #8." My fondest wish for all you good citizens out there is that the soundtrack will cause you to rent the film. Call in sick to work, line up ten beers in front of you and enjoy the great cathartic document of corporate angst which is "Office Space."

Everytime I hear one of the tracks on the album, I think of the scene in the movie where that song was played, and that's what makes this album good. If the songs didn't remind me of the movie, I doubt I'd like it much at all. I recommend buying this album, but only if you've seen the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Damn It Feels GOOD!, November 25, 2002

This soundtrack is amazing. Why? The best soundtracks can make you recall the exact scene they were playing behind, and even though these songs are so seemingly detached from this movie, every song will make you go "Oh yeah!"

And the best track of course is "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta" by the Geto Boys. I can't help feeling like life would be SO much better if "Gangsta" was always playing in the background.

Ummmmmmm................... YEA-aaah...... (Bill Lumberg-style)

5.0 out of 5 stars Damn it feels good to be a gangsta, January 12, 2006

People buy movie soundtracks for one of two reasons: the liked the movie, or they liked a song or two they heard in the said movie they liked. This is a rare gem, for me, in that it was a movie that I absolutely loved but as I detest rap music I bought it anyway just to experience the movie again.

There is something very funny about a couple of white boys from the suburbs listening to rap / hip hop / gangsta rap and they don't have the slightest clue what life in the hood is like. I have no idea what it's like! I'm a white girl from the suburbs and I have no idea! But as they were a bunch of happy, bumbling fools whose only violent act was beating senseless a fax machine, there was something so funny about them listening to the Ghetto Boys and Ice Cube. Damn, it does feel good to be a gangsta...

4.0 out of 5 stars Spiced up the movie!, January 15, 2004

When I was about to watch Office Space, I was estimating that the movies music would just be a score. Man, was I wrong. The music first enters at the beginning of the movie, which as the movie went on, became more and more like the movie. What was the genre? Rap. Hip Hop. Yep. A movie about office nerds, you would expect something different. Well well, aint it a surprize? The music is great, especialy "Damn it feels good to be a Gangsta" which is a song that me and my friend Garret listen to, and love it.

My Advice to you: SEE THE MOVIE FIRST. The soundtrack means nothing to you if you didnt see the film. Office Space is a laugh out loud comedy that popular person and nerd can enjoy. Any type of person will accept the movie and music which are both outstanding.

I am so impressed by the lyrics and music that I bought this CD when I saw this movie. Its amazing how our work environment and these songs have reality in common. Songs that really highlight are "Damn it feels to be a gagnsta", "Take the job" and "No Tears". Worth listening to all these. Kudos to the Office space team.

I have to agree with a woman who called this a "guilty pleasure" and said she listens to it on the way to work. This soundtrack has become my anthem especially when I've had a rotten day in the world of corporate media. I think the reworking of "Take this Job and Shove It" is hilarious; "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta" is just classic. This movie and this soundtrack are both classics. For both fans of gangsta oldschool rap, and those of us chained to a desk when we deserve better...

With it's unique blend of hard core rap, lively brass melodies and Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" this is an ecclectic album to say the least. It fits well with the movie, obviously, and if you like to listen to good "cruisin music" this is a surely a CD to get.
