Good Chair, Engineering Flaw,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This chair is exactly what I hoped it would be. It relieves pressure on my lower back, helps me to sit up straight and tall at my desk, and is retraining my abs to be engaged while sitting. The padding is generous. I'm no longer leaning on one or both elbows at my desk during the day. I have had the chair three weeks, and as expected, my body still gets fatigued by the end of Thursday & Friday afternoons, but overall, I've made the transition well. (I expect that in another 2-3 weeks, the fatigue will end.) I personally have not needed to use a regular chair to supplement this chair.
I have given the chair 4 stars instead of 5 due to an engineering flaw that may be hard to describe in a review. The pivot point on the chair is near the knee pads. To raise and lower the seat, there is a screw under the seat. Because of the position of these moving parts, the front casters are only in perfect alignment (perpendicular to the floor) when the seat is fully lowered. With the seat at the height I'm using, the casters are at about a 30 degree angle from perpendicular, which means they don't swivel and barely roll. It's not a deal breaker for me, but I wonder if the casters can bare the weight long-term at this angle. I would not recommend if you have beautiful floors, as I'm sure I'm scraping my chair mat.

Best of the worst,

I bought this chair as I have two herniated discs, so sitting in a regular chair causes shooting pains after about 20 minutes. In this regard, the chair has been great. I can now sit for much longer at my desk, whereas before I was standing with a table on top of my desk. The chair is a better quality than the picture makes it look. I was worried it would be very cheap in construction, but it's actually thicker and more stable than it appears.
With that said the drawbacks are not huge. One, it's pretty ugly. Having moved from an Eames office chair to this chair at my desk my wife informed me it will be put away when people come over. Second is the memory foam. As others have noted, it seems to be insufficiently dense for the knees. So after not so long sitting you'll find your knees pushing onto the metal (keep in mind, I'm 6" and 195lbs). Third is you really exchange the points of dis-comfort. Now I find my butt gets quickly sore. All in all, best one I found on Amazon or otherwise and a great price compared to what I saw in the stores for 3x the price.

The material of this chair are very good and the whole thing is sturdy. unfortunately for me it is not as comfortable as other knee chairs i have used. i am 5 feet 6 and it seems that it was designed for taller people since when i raise it to improve the angle between knees and torso i end up way too high in regards to the desk. the geometry is a bit off.
