This review is from: Office Star Woven Mesh Back and Mesh Seat Chair with Headrest (Kitchen)
Given facts:
This is a chair
It has wheels
it has armrests
it has a mesh back with no padding
it has a mesh seat with padding
Pros:
altogether high quality of construction for a chair at this price
very smooth wheels across carpet and hardwood floors
height adjustable armrests
comfortable high quality mesh backrest. not itchy, no protruding fibers like the $89 office supply store house brand chairs. the mesh seems to be of some sort of plastic or resin coated fabric, or perhaps some type of nylon weave. not in a bad way.
padded mesh seats are cooler than padded fabric seats, the same holds true for this chair
the height adjustment is well tensioned (though slightly jerky on the way down)
cons/almost there:
the arms rests are hard and do not rotate. the height adjustment is a LOUD plasticky clunk as it locks into each height adjustment. not freely adjustable (5 stops of vertical adjustment)
in addition, the armrests do not slide forwards and backwards(a luxury feature ive become accustomed to on $1200 chairs at work, i dont sit on a chair at home enough to justify that kind of dinero)
the backrest tilt mechanism is tensioned for a gorilla. at 170 lbs, it barely budges unless i push backwards from my desk with my arms. the tension adjustment doesnt seem to do very much. perhaps it will loosen a bit with time.
the headrest is too far back to be useful for anything other than whiplash prevention in a motor vehicle accident. so if you plan on using this inside a car, remember to buckle up.
it would require your skull to be tilted about 45 degrees back in order to make contact. there is no tension adjust or spring. perhaps i shall mcguyver something from broken chairs at work.
in summary: a solid home office/desk or mass purchase chair for a business. it certainly cant compete feature for feature with chairs that cost 600-800 more, but who would expect it too? it is comfortable to sit in and seems to be supportive in the right places and dimensions.
