I have read several of Rose Gordon's novels and she continues to impress with this newest release. Her refreshing approach to historical romance serves her well in this new "western" setting. She has the reader laughing out loud, frustrated, and then swooning all within a matter of mere pages.

Allison and Wes have a dynamic relationship. You can't help but fall in love with both of them. Not only is Wes our ruggedly strong and handsome Captain in the US Army, but he's witty, sweet, thoughtful, and fiercely loyal. Allison is a perfect complement to our hero. She is a beautiful, refined Bostonian - a true "damsel-in-distress" stranded in a fort in the middle of Indian Territory. She matches Wes in wits and selflessness. Yet, their consideration for one another may , in fact, be the ruin of their fragile relationship.

I truly loved reading "The Officer and the Bostoner". Ms Gordon's characters capture your interest and your heart. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

FYI: does contain some results of violence &language appropriate for the setting. There are also a couple open-door scenes, but the couple is married.

The Officer And The Bostoner by Rose Gordon
The Officer Series Book 1
Allison Pierson has left Boston to meet her betrothed. She ends up stranded in Fort Gibson where the only way she can stay safe and in the barracks is to marry. Good thing for her that her rescuer has offered not only to marry her but promises to protect her virtue....even from himself. What she don't expect is to start caring for him.

Captain Wes Tucker isn't at all who he seems. He once lived the life that Allison has come from and he knows her type. She might be beautiful and even seem nice enough, but he knows it all comes down to money. Why else is she so excited for her betrothed to come get her and bring her to Austin? And how can he convince this city girl to stay with him in the middle of nowhere without any of those city luxuries?

Rose Gordon brings to life a new set of characters and stories on the open frontier. The reader is introduced to Jack and Gray who's stories are yet to come. Life in the middle of nowhere isn't easy for the women and danger is always lurking around the corner. This is the first of three books in the series and it's definitely a great start.

Allison is failing west to meet up with her fiancee when an unfortunate encounter leaves her stranded in the middle of a military fort. Good thing for her Wes find her and makes her a deal. He will marry her to provide her the protection of his band while he protects her virtue.

Wes joined the army to get away from debutante who only care about the money and social standing of a man only to find himself married to the very type of girl he was trying to get away from.

Now these two must make the best of the situation as they wait for Allison's fiancee to come and get her. But neither one was prepared to deal with the feelings that grow between them.

Rose takes on a new genre with great success in her first western. The humor that makes all of Rose 's books great is just as evident in this book as it is in her regencies. You can't help but fall in love with both Allison and Wes as they struggle to deal with their views of each other and there growing feelings for each other.

I received an advance copy from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I have just finished yet another fabulous story by Rose Gordon. I quickly became a fan of Ms. Gordon's historical romance stories after reading the Banks' Brother's Brides series. I loved The Officer and the Bostoner from the beginning. This woman has a way of writing a story with drama, a few steamy scene's, and some hilarious scenes that made me laugh out loud. That is part of what I love about Rose Gordon's books they always make me laugh.

I so thoroughly enjoyed reading Wes & Allison's story. On her way to meet her intended, the stage coach takes a wrong turn. Allison thinks her journey has left her in a horrible position in the middle of no where. That is until she meets Wes, handsome, sweet, kind hearted Captain Wes Tucker. At first these two don't mesh all that well but the sparks are there right away. I loved Allison with her spunky personality and Wes is just such a wonderful guy, how could I help but love him? Wes offers to marry Allison to keep her safe until her Nicholas arrives to claim her as his own. They don't mean to fall for each other but the more time they spend together the closer they become.

I loved watching this cute couple grow closer and try to protect each other as the story goes on. There is plenty of drama, romance, & laughter in this book that kept me turning pages quickly. I can not wait to read the next book in this series. Ms. Gordon has not yet failed to keep me highly entertained with one of her books.

I am so glad I was able to obtain a copy of this book from Netgalley to share my thoughts with you.

I read reviews that made this book seem great. It isn't and it is NOT historical romance. It is entertaining in a silly romantic way. But it is just so foolish that it made wonder where the author got the idea for this book. Happy it was free otherwise I would be mad to have spent even a dime on this silly book. If you see any review that claims this book is at all a historical romance whoever wrote that doesn't have a clue about history. Stagedrivers don't make wrong turns like in this book. Nor would an Army fort have just let one leave suddenly in hostile Indian territory. Author do your research. Ugh books like this disgust me. I wish I was able to give it MINUS star review. I usually enjoy Rose Gordon books so it is just so hard for me to believe she is calling this historical. I have read so many books on Army fort life and while some of it was maybe sort of correct it didn't give very much detail into the true facts. VERY Disappointed from Rose Gordon.
