Book Description

April 1997
Extraterrestrials obviously have seeped into our consciousness. Finally, in a hilarious send-up of self-help manuals, Emmy Award-winning author Joe Tripician fearlessly tackles the whole spectrumaliens, UFOs, true believers, government deceptions and other things paranormal. Peppered with facts, conspiracies, opinion, and events too incredible not to be made up (but aren't).

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Joe Tripician has obviously never (and admits as much) been abducted by aliens, or he could never have written such a screamingly funny book about what would obviously be traumatizing events. The book might bring up bad remembrances for those who have been abducted by aliens, but since so many abductees seem to have repeat experiences, Tripician's handbook will put them in good stead for the next time. It includes advice on how to "dis" an alien, how to tell your mate about the experience, how to appear on talk shows afterward, and many other essential bits of information.

More About the Author

Joe Tripician is an award-winning Producer/Writer/Director and Playwright. His work has been broadcast on Network and Cable television across America, Europe and Japan, and has shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

Joe received his first EMMY award for the documentary "Metaphoria" broadcast in the US on PBS in 1991.

Joe's humor book, "The Official Alien Abductee's Handbook", was published by Andrews and McMeel in 1997. Author and Futurist Robert Anton Wilson called it: "The funniest book I've read since the Warren Report." Famed scientist John C. Lilly said: "Joe Tripician has achieved the impossible: a truly funny book on alien abductions."

In 1996 Joe wrote, recorded and performed an alien song ("Ozark Melody") with the legendary Jeff Buckley along with musical partner Frederick Reed.

In May of 2002, Joe performed in his one-man play, "Balkanized at Sunrise", based on his 1997 trip to the Balkans. His Balkan journey began when the Croatian government hired him to write an official biography of their president. Much hilarity ensured.

Joe spends his time between New York and Brazil with his wife and two daughters, who do most of the translating for him.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOL, November 13, 2010

Haha. This book is so crazy. I was a bit disappointed that this book wasn't a literal guide, because this is the kinda book I would want to read, but it's hilarious none the less.

Why don't aliens usually land on Earth? The gas prices are too high!

This book is a comedy book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Humor, yes. Useful, no., May 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Official Alien Abductee's Handbook (Paperback)
I received this book as a gift, and while I had hoped to glean some useful information out of this. While I have never been abducted by aliens, it does not hurt to be prepared. I hurriedly flipped through the pages, looking for a map of vulnerable points on an alien. Surely, I thought, these 'Grays' must have _some_ weakpoints. Mr. Tripician, however, would have us deal with this threat unarmed. His nazi-like refusal to yield even the smallest morsel of valuable information reviews him for the government shill he is. While Mr. Tripician supports the coming alien abduction through his attempt at making light of the very real threat, those who buy this book are monetarily supporting the enemy. Strieber has warned us of 9.9.99--if we do not take heed, we shall all be exterminated.

2.0 out of 5 stars Probing for humor.......empty, August 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Official Alien Abductee's Handbook (Paperback)
I wanted to like this book, because I've written a UFO humor book myself. This is more a book of lists than anything...certainly not Dave Barry-like. There was one good joke -- something about having crop circles under one's eyes -- and that was it. Actually I should be happy that something this bad could be published; it gives me hope that mine will find a publisher.

Footnote: please oh please let the reviewer below me be just kidding around.
