I own and overused the previous edition. I have anxiously awaited an update and am delighted with the result. I have traveled to over 200 National Parks, Monuments, Battlefields, Historic Sites, etc. and use this book to make that possible. It has excellent directions, commentaries and ideas. Some of these gems are like looking for buried treasure and hard to locate. I wouldn't be without it!!

If you want the most up-to-date guide to America's National Parks you must buy this book. Every land area under NPS jurisdiction is organized in alphabetical order and painstakingly reviewed. There are 391 sites listed each with detailed information every traveler needs. I keep it in my backpack for ready reference. DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!

Our National Park system is extensive, and it's not just the biggies like Yellowstone and Yosemite. This guide covers the breadth of the parks so you won't miss anything as you plan a trip. Moreover, this may be the only complete guide, in compact form, to the Park system.

If you need a basic where, when, how guide for the National Parks, this is the one I recommend. It's not glossy or full of in-depth info but it's easy to use, especially as a springboard for further planning.

It's particularly helpful if you collect the National Park Passport Stamps because the guide lists all the visitor centers where the stamps can be obtained in addition to hours, phone numbers etc .... I've used this guide for years and order the newest edition when available. Pair this with a National Parks Annual Pass and you are set!

This is the bible of National Parks!! I tell everyone I meet at NPs about it! It has lists of parks in each state, where they are, how to get there, hours, what's at each park and even phone numbers!! Not to be confused with the lovely National Geographis Guide to National Parks. I ordered mine through Amazon and saved $$$.
Love this book!!

I rely on this book when planning to visit a National Parks Site and it gives me good ideas of what to do and about how much time it takes to visit some of the places. I also use the National Parks Service website (nps.gov) and found that this book compliments the website quite well.
