4.0 out of 5 stars Wrong alblum reviewed above by Arthurley "music expert" ???
The review by 'Arthruley' above must be referring to the alblum "Official Bootleg Series, Vol. 6: Passaic NJ Capitol Theatre '74 " which seems to be similar to the King Biscuit Flower Hour disc. The base line in both Vol 6 and KBFH is very weak. The set list for Vol 3 has fewer songs than the other two and does not include 'Mississippi Queen'. The base line in Vol 3 is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Careful with this one, July 22, 2005
This review is from: Official Bootleg 3: Live at Capitol Theatre Nj (Audio CD)
Big Mountain fan here and have been enjoying the bootleg releases that have surfaced lately from the archives of Corky and Leslie's personal stash. I purchased this one however and I am very disappointed. It stated it was recorded Live in New Jersey in 1973. I already own the Mountain Greatest Hits Live (King Biscuit Flower Hour)which is said to be recorded the same place only a year later. The recordings on this disk are the very same as the ones on the Mountain greatest hits live disk. However The King Biscuit Flower Hour sounds better and has more songs as well. Very disappointed in this one. It should have the dates correctly stated to avoid the confusion. I certainly did not need to spend the money i forked over for this one. The music is very good but king biscuit is the better buy by far. Crossroader is also listed as a song on the bootleg version but is nowhere to be heard on the disk though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bodacious boot by the classic lineup, December 1, 2005
This review is from: Official Bootleg 3: Live at Capitol Theatre Nj (Audio CD)
I purchased this official bootleg with skepticism, wary of what the sound quality might be. Other than the vocals being a bit distant, the audio fidelity on this 32 year old recording ROCKS!

Mountain has always been much better live than on their studio recordings. Leslie, Corky, and Felix blaze through a raucous set, including an improvised solo of Jingle Bells (!)

Having seen many live shows at the now defunct Capitol Theater, this set holds some sentimental value for me. It is a treat for any hardcore Mountain fan. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars The King Biscuit Debacle, July 14, 2010

Just picked this one up last week and have been very happy with the disc. The sound could be better. As one reviewer stated, the vocals are often buried in the mix, but the quality is not of low enough fidelity to distract from the stellar set. The main reason I'm writing is to weigh in on the whole "Vol. 3", "King Biscuit Live" discussion. I, as well, have both sets and there are indeed some overlap with the two sets. I have now listened to them side-by-side and the tracks that are listed as the same are the EXACT same recordings. Here are the three main differences:

1) "KB live" has a different sound mix (vocals more up front, but bottom end is very weak and the excellent supporting guitar work of David Perry appears to be almost non-existent)

2) "KB live" contains more tracks (which I believe to be taken from a separate performance)

3) It appears that "KB live" lifted the "It's for You" jam right out of the middle of "Nantucket Sleighride" and made it into a separate track and then fades "Sleighride" just before Corky's drum solo.

I'm not sure of the reason for all of KB's cutting and pasting. perhaps they felt it made for a better all-around setlist? I haven't heard the "Vol. 6" boot, but i wouldn't be surprised to find that the rest of the tracks had been lifted from this set.

In the final analysis, I would forget about the Biscuit and get the Boot. It's a great set with "Get Out My Life..." and "Nantucket Sleighride" being standout rockers and apart from the fade at the end of "Nantucket Sleighride" I have no reason to question the integrity of the recording. I cannot say the same for King Biscuit who appear to have chopped up a historical audio document in hopes of makin' a buck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leslie West and Mountain need to be in Rock & Roll Hall of fame, August 13, 2007

I have been a fan for 30 years- I was at this concert in 1973. This particular recording although short is recorded well and very clean for a live performance. The performamce shows some of the cleanest leads Leslie has ever played live-- add to that Corky's drumming and this Album is a definite buy for any Mountain Fan.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't have the item, July 8, 2010

I might like the product if I got the product. I ordered this 5 weeks ago. I never received the package. Standard shipping from the USPS. I have contacted Siren Disc to get the tracking number, but they haven't replied. So much for ordering music via mail. I am disappointed with the whole process, no human to contact, no product, lost package from the Post Office. I know that this is suppose to be a review of THE product, but I couldn't complain about this any other way. So here I am.
