About the Author

I was born & raised in Las Vegas & through studying history I became interested in gaming history of Nevada. I have been a collector of many things since an early age, I guess collecting just came natural.

I was collecting & trading with other local collectors when I met Steve Wells my partner with the patience to help with some of the research & documentation as well all the photography. We travelled throughout the country to photograph major chip collections. Collectors told me for many years all my research needed to be put into a book, & finally it was completed. I travel extensively throughout Nevada researching & collecting, always finding new information about our past.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable source of valuable information, July 29, 2000

This review is from: The Official U. S. Casino Chip Price Guide (Hardcover)
This is by far the ultimate source of information on the exciting casino chip collectible hobby. This is not merely a price guide like most of the other books on casino chips that i have seen, but a remarkable full color display of the rarest chips i have seen. In addition, the history of some of the casinos and the use of casino chips over the last century is delightfully represented. The best part about the book is the invaluable Grading System set up by the authors. This unprecedented system is of utmost importance for any serious chip collector. Aside from all of this, just seeing all the full-colored pictures of the actual casino chips makes this book one that should be on everyone's book shelf.

A TRUE MASTERPIECE!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Casino Chip Collectors and Gaming History Buffs, January 11, 2007

If you collect casino chips, or are just interested in the history of casinos and casino chips, then this book is a must. Every conceivable chip from just about every casino that ever existed is displayed. Chips are all listed with an estimated value which is very useful, especially for the casual collector like myself. There is a thorough discussion of chip characteristics and grading criteria. The research that went into this book is phenomenal. Mr. Campiglia has painstakingly documented sales, scarcity and the history of each and every chip. The book is well laid out with color photos of each chip and many photos of the casinos they came from. There are also many interesting factoids and anecdotes pertaining to the history of casinos in America. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and refer to it often as I build my collection. I give this book my highest recommendation.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR A CASINO CHIP COLLECTOR, March 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This Fourth Edition is much better and a lot more detailed than the price guide in the past. And much easier to look up chips this time. I love all the new pictures. If you collect casino chips or a history buff of the past, what a better way to learn about the old casinos as far the chips they used and designs. Thanks
