Golf Legalise at its Best!,

This review is from: The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf (Paperback)
This book takes everything you do with your friends that breaks the rules of golf and makes it hilariously legal. Written just like the USGA's manual and in golf legalese its a must have for anyone that enjoys golf. It includes such highlights as the Agreement to Re-tee or "Mass Mulligan", Temporary Insanity or "John Daly", and other such rules as Nonchalant Putts or "Tap-tap-tap-in and Mittsie". If you want a book that will make you laugh about golf, this is it!!!

Perhaps the funniest book on golf ever,

This review is from: The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf: A Rule Book That Lets You Play Golf Your Way (Leather Bound)
The first time I encounted this book, I almost passed out laughing. It was during a golf trip to South Carolina. We passed the book around, taking turns reading the exceptions aloud. Nobody could make it straight through without bursting out in laughter. Any golfer with a sense of humor can appreciate this book. The exceptions are crafted in fine mock-USGA legalese. What's more, each exception is hilariously illustrated in the kind of line drawing common to all those instructional books we've all read along the way. A must have for your golf library.

A funny, yet thought-provoking, look at the game,

This review is from: The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book and sent it to several of my friends (golfers all) to read. They all enjoyed as much as I did. It's written in the same basic style as "The Official Rules of Golf", but they use rules that you and I play by. The scary thing is that I have seen every rule in this book actually applied on the golf course! Not by myself, of course, but by others. If you enjoy golf, and have ever wanted to play a ball that you found in the rough that was "close enough" to the one you couldn't find, you'll get a kick out of this book.

the best part about this book is that every golfer has rationalized away many of the rules as this book does.

A very creative and entertaining book. If you have friends who take the game of golf like a religion, this book will give you many credible and very common sense answers to some of the great mysteries of the rules of golf. Quick read and very enjoyable.

When this 'funny' of golf arrived on book shelves I received one as a 'gift' at a charity golf tournament. Reading whilst playing that tournament served as a PERFECT backdrop for the penning of this tomb of the sport. One CAN'T stop laughing at or with ANYONE whom enjoys puttering around in the woods of this grand old game. Itr really is a funtastic turn of VERY staunch rules and the REAL ook at how the masses actually DO play the game. Having long since passed my cop along, (and then recalling it recently whilst chatting with a golf 'pro'),I procured a copy to regard again and quite enjoy. FORE Stars (or was it FIVE?!)

Words are inadequate to describe the hilariousness index
for this book. The foreword clearly sets the tone for the rest of the book. It is an important addition to any "duffer's" library.

This book is hilarious. Henry Beard does a great job of capturing all the unwritten rules of golf, rules we wish we could change, and rules we should follow if we decide to "bend" the official rules. The book is organized into several sections, dealing with lost balls, hazards, etc. No golfer hasn't independently wished at least a couple dozen handful of his 62 "official" exceptions (plus appendices) were true.
What do you do if you (unfairly) lose your ball in middle the fairway? What if you hit a mulligan that's worse than your original tee shot? What if your partner is cheating? What about weird ground conditions? Missed "gimme" putts? Beard answers all those questions, and more.

Rules for the way Golf should be played.,

This review is from: The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf (Paperback)
I love Golf. It's the Rules I don't get. I mean none of us are Tiger Woods ... After 8 strokes just pick the ball up. Who cares who closest to the hole , Just putt the ball. That said ,The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf is a book made for the way I play golf. If more people follow these rules maybe I could get a round in in less than 3 hours!
