I've been teaching TOEFL preparation classes with this book, and for that it is TERRIBLE. There aren't enough examples, and there's no practical or useful advise on HOW to take the test. Most of the book is just text describing the test question, a lot of which is stuff you would figure out on your own by simply looking at the test. Other books actually offer practice and exercises. There are NO exercises in this book outside of a few sample questions, and there are only three examples of each speaking task altogether. Several pages of writing topics, but barely any advise on how to actually write the thing.

Don't waste the money because it's "official."

This book is not a good book for preparing your TOEFL test. It only serves as a 'Guide'. There are not enough example to learn as well. Get some other TOEFL preparation book instead.

It is good enough for overviewing what the iBT is. I have been living in North America for over 10 years, I need this book just for a guide to prepare the test. If you are looking for a book to study, may not be a good choice. Since the real test seemed a little bit harder than the book, at least my test was. (took on Jan.16, 2010)

You may throw off about 200 pages of this book, because this information is available free of charge on the official TOEFL web-site (tips for TOEFL). Furthermore, every person registered for the test gets a sampler free of charge. In this book this sampler is given for practice exercises. Overall, the book just describes what the test it and doesn't give any strategy. The software of the disk leaves much to be desired and there are mistakes in the answers. The advantage of the book is that it is official and authentic.

The book is great preperation material before the TOEFL iBT. The only thing that bothered me, after the test, was that it didnt't exactly tell me how many tasts there would be on each section. When you do the sample tests you also think that you have way more time than you actually do on the real exam.

This book is good if you already have good reading, writing, speaking and comprenhensive skills, it's also a good resource if you want to see how the exam looks like, but if you don't have strong basis, this book will not help you.

Excellent source for the TOEFL test! I would suggest it to all who are looking for a good and easy way to study at home.

I bought TOEFL while actually taking my TOEIC (more professional, TOEFL is more for foreign students trying to get to School based on English language). I liked a lot the CD-rom and training. Very helpful. For indication I got 880/990 and so the GOLD certificate just using this TOEFL book.

The best think that I like about this book was the Cd, really easy to use and good for practicing
