Great license plate travel book - dated 2004 but none like it, October 24, 2011
This review is from: The Official License Plate Book (Paperback)
For 2004 - 2005 - this is the final edition of this long line of IDPUBCO books, made almost annually since 1978. This is the 72-page full color DIGEST edition, covering 50 states plus DC, all 12 Canadian provinces and territories (in 2004) and four pages showing pictures of graphic license plates from every one of the 32 states of Mexico as well. Over 1000 color photos in total.
A selection of the most common plates are shown for each location, covering car, truck, trailer, apportioned, personalized and special plates. Also provided are the US State Dept. Diplomatic license place codes used in 2004, and two dozen other government plates used by GSA. All this is legal information to publish and release, of course.
Every US and Canadian jurisdiction also has a color photo of the Driver's License - this detail is no longer available to private publishers. Renewal sticker colors and expiration dates for every state, and whether each requires one or two plates per car - all provided. Disabled placards and reflectorization of license plates is also discussed, and a color photo of each State Police shoulder patch is provided.
If you're a new license plate collector, or watch them on the roads, you'll be amazed at how many different plates are in circulation, and the variety of artistic interpretations of these everyday, often overlooked objects.
This book is a few years old, but many of these plates are still in use, since many states continue for 7 to 10 years or more with the same metal plates, adding only annual renewal stickers. It's well worth buying and tucking into the glove compartment.
