I disagree with the prior reviewer's absolute pan of the book. While I agree that much of the material is obvious (NetMeeting is a very intuitive application), it presents all aspects of the product, in an understandable, readable and even witty way. This book is probably not for the hacker who can pick up an application like this and push it to the max in one hour. It could have gone into more technical depth in other areas. However, if you are tentative about using this product, this book can give you confidence in taking the plunge. It also has some good ideas on how to use NetMeeting. Maybe I am just one of those who "can't read", but I felt I benefitted from it a great deal.

Some of the reading is slow but be well assured that at the end of reading this highly recommended microsoft book you will be able to handle the netmeeting application. Do not take my word for it read it yourself :)

A weak book,

The useful information in this book would fill 20 pages at the most. The chapter on firewall issues was not without a point, but 90% of the book is a tedious dissection of elements that are so intuitively obvious that the only people who could benefit enough from them to justify the cost of the book are people who can't read anyway. The author suggests several times (usually during the frustratingly brief technical sections) that the reader loan this book to their network administrator. Warning: if you give this book to your network administrator, be prepared for it to be returned at high velocity.

A good read for those looking to expand their bandwidth.,

Unlike the OKIE from Norman above without a POINT, I recommend this volume to all those that are new or looking to expand their bandwidth to include NetMeeting technology into there kowledgebase. As a Computer and Network Analyst for a worldwide corporation responsible for deploying Microsofts NetMeeting and the associated IBM/DataBeam Server Software technology I can recommend this volume. It provides information to our help-desk support team. With the WWW being the only other good source of literature on this subject this book serves a nich.
