I am disappointed! The information this book delivers can be found in the online help files and documentation included in the Site Server package. When I buy a book priced like this I want deeper informations or guidelines for developers.

I am dearly disappointed by the contents of the book. I had expected some detailed information on how to install, configure and open stores on the internet using Microsoft Commerce server. Instead, the book seemed to have glossed over explanations of just about every other technology except the commerce server. It seems that some marketing department decided they had to have a book, cause they have an otherwise decent product. I have noted a new revision of the book for Commerce Server 3.0, by the same author. I will be passing on this one and instead I will be looking for other, more comprehensive books on the subject. I strongly recommend steering clear of this particular series.

Sometimes I think there is a rush to print books when new (or new revs of) software products are released. It seems that if these authors were to take just a little more time to think about what someone who buys a technical book wants--ways to do it oneself, for example, to save money, better books would be written. That is the way I felt about this book. From the perspective of learning Site Server to do "nitty gritty" planning, I found myself asking for more please.

I expected more in-depth info from a Microsoft book on such a key technology. First of all, the book is way too short. The different technologies get too little coverage since Commerce server gets the lion's share. And even then, there isn't much new or advanced information, just repetitions from the Site Server documentation which is poor to begin with. This book doesn't justify its price. Maybe the next edition will be better.
