I bought this book because my sixth grade students were having a very hard time with a story in our basal reader called "Calendar Art." I bought this book and they loved it. While explaining why an accurate calendar isn't easy, the M&M's do an admirable job in explaning it! Worthwhile, even for my 12 year olds!

5.0 out of 5 stars A thoroughly enjoyable history of the calendar, September 5, 2002
Cleverly conceived by Larry Dane Brimmer and colorfully illustrated by Karen E. Pellaton, The Official M&M's History Of The Calendar traces the history and development of the calendar from prehistorical notches on bone and tracing the migratory patterns of the mammoths, to utilizing the phases of the moon and positioning of the sun. Ideally suited to young readers ages 7 to 10, the M&M characters Red and Yellow serve as engaging guides to this informatively fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable approach to the history of the calendar. The Official M&M's History Of The Calendar is also available in a hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great learning resource, September 10, 2008
This review is from: The Official M&M's Brand History of the Calendar (Hardcover)
I homeschool both of my kids (ages 11 & 14)using the k12 online curriculum. We got to a lesson on calendars and I felt like we needed a little more information as a supplement. I remembered that my son enjoyed this book so we pulled it out and I found that it was a great resource for learning about the history of the calendar. Plus, my kids were more than willing to learn from a m&m "sponsored" book!
