5.0 out of 5 stars Officially-licensed Onyx DS Lite Case
I recently purchased an Onyx DS Lite. I wanted a DS which has the rumble feature that is missing from the more recent DSi and DSi XL.

Unfortunately, by now, there are very few officially-licensed DS Lite cases available, particularly black ones. Hence, I began a several-month quest to find an officially-licensed black DS Lite protecting case...

2.0 out of 5 stars Broke the first day
This does not work with a DSI. I looked to see that on the reviews but couldn't find it. The plastic broke the first day and is now sitting useless in my son's room. Cool idea, but pretty much useless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Officially-licensed Onyx DS Lite Case, November 22, 2010

This review is from: Official Nintendo and Star Wars DS Lite Armor Case with Buildable LEGO Platforms (Accessory)
I recently purchased an Onyx DS Lite. I wanted a DS which has the rumble feature that is missing from the more recent DSi and DSi XL.

Unfortunately, by now, there are very few officially-licensed DS Lite cases available, particularly black ones. Hence, I began a several-month quest to find an officially-licensed black DS Lite protecting case.

Guess what! You can ignore the fact that this is branded as "Star Wars". This case is actually not related Star Wars in the least once you remove the Star Wars picture Lego tiles from the front! In fact, the case is actually a glossy black officially-licensed case that perfectly fits a DS Lite, giving an extremely snug coating of armor to the system. It's rather slim, only adding about 50% more thickness, and negligible width and height. With the exception of the screens and the L and R buttons, very little remains vulnerable. And, because this is officially-licensed by Nintendo, all ports are accessible and I'd assume it's been carefully tested to prevent scratching the DS Lite within.

Even better, this turns my DS Lite into an official Lego. Who doesn't love Lego? It has Lego-branded gray holes on the bottom (6 x 8) and knobs on the top (6 x 14) which can styled with any selection of Lego for total customization (including flat black, if you want just a plain black cover). Bonus!

Best thing ever: With these covers and one more layer of Legos (6 x 8), you can actually plug 2 DS Lites into one another, building a massive DS Lite brick. Or put wheels on it. Or put it into a Lego Mindstorms robot running your own homebrew program that creates an amorphous robot face on the upper screen and transmits information between Mindstorms audio sensors and the DS Lite microphone via your own custom audio protocol.

Whoa.

Gave this to my grandson who is an avid Star Wars Fan, talk about the perfect gift!! He kinda pushed it aside for all the other neat gifts until I opened it and put his Nintendo inside it and then he thought it was the "coolest thing ever".

I purchased this for my 7 year old for Christmas last year. He absolutely loves it. I hesitated because I was afraid he would end up losing all the pieces right away, but they stay in really well and surprisingly it is all still in tact 6 months later. This was the only place I had seen this, so if you're considering it, I would do it!
