Overall good guide,
By
This review is from: Official Nintendo Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Player's Guide (Paperback)
If your looking for a companion for Paper Mario, this guide fits the bill. The biggest problems with this guide consist of; Lack of information concerning some of the mini-games, layout of the information concerning backtracking; Its difficult to tell what you missed without having to go back to each area's maps and scan each box to see if there is something you can now do, an index or list of places to go back to when you get new ablilites/characters, would have helped this. Overall good, clean guide, great maps, complete in the information it does cover.
What will I get outta buying this guide that's not in the game? Maps, maps and more maps. Maps are the main reason this guide is useful, and the information that is contained on the maps. However the game has built in info on the monsters, and there is a person you can pay coins to help find missing shine sprites or star pieces. In addition, for help with the puzzles, you can ask Goombella for hints and tips about them at any time. However having this guide certainly makes it easier to find/complete the said items. Content Ratings: (out of 4) Main Portion, Walkthrough: **** Extras, Sidequests: *** Item Index: *** Monster Index: **** Layout: ** I would buy this guide again if it cost: $10

Son reads the book,
This review is from: Official Nintendo Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Player's Guide (Paperback)
The player's guide is a book with instructions on how to navigate the game and what tactics to use to beat the diferent playing levels. My son reads this book as he is playing; and when he is not playing, he also reads the book. His interest in beating the game forces him to read carefully, understand each instruction and follow it.
My son greatly enjoys playing this game and that's the ultimate measure for a child's toy. He keeps me updated on what chapter he is in, whom he has beaten, how many stars he has. He is proud of his success and progress playing the game. The game is clean with no sexual or crime or drug references.

Why do people keep saying that this guide is junk? It is a very excellent guide and I will go more in depth now.
1. Walkthrough 9/10- The walkthrough part of the guide is almost perfect. The only bad part is that in a few parts they leave out what room you are supposed to go to next. Other than that the walkthrough part is excellent. 2. All the rest 10/10- All the parts for badges, items, and other things is perfect. They show every single badge, star piece, and recipe. They also show every enemies stats. This can be very helpful when you are in peril. This guide is overall very good. I will sum it up below. (Out of 5) Helpfulness **** Stats ***** Walkthrough **** 1/2 Checklists *** 1/2 Items, Badges **** 1/2 Recipes **** Overall: **** 1/4 BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nintendo Power, Is That You?,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Official Nintendo Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Player's Guide (Paperback)
Yes, anybody who knows Nintendo Power's guides knows that they leave out certain details. But, this guide is.....like a step-by-step book for this game. Yes, it ACTUALLY gives step-by-step details, unlike the other NP guides. There is just one, or two exceptions...or more, but under five.
I beat the game with this guide. Here are the good and bad things about this guide. The Good Reasons about this Guide: - Has maps showing locations of ALL shine sprites, star pieces, and items. - Section that talks about all the needed things to know. - List of all the badges, shine sprites, and star pieces. - Descriptions of all moves. - Strategy for the Pit of 100 Trials. - Awesome walkthrough from Rogueport to the Palace of Shadow. - Tattles from Goombella for all enemies. The bad things about this guide: - Um....Nothing! Well, that concludes my review for the Paper Mario 2 guide from NP. If you get this game, get the guide from a store, and if you can't find it, order it from Amazon.com[...]

This game is quite challenging and a lot of fun. The trips you have to make, such as getting a drink for the admiral, takes quite a bit of time. However, it's not brutal and keeps one's interest. I love the dragon as he's so cute.

This User's Guide gives a great step-by-step set of instructions to get through each level of the game. It allows the user to access each and every level in the order necessary to take care of each level and Boss. It is very highly recommended. I enjoy the game even more with the help of the book.

This guide was very helpful to find the hidden pieces for the game. It helps you find the shine sprites and badges. It gives the Heart Count for enemies so that you know which ones to avoid and how much force to use on the ones that you have to fight. It explains the badges and the story of Mario, Princess Peach, and Bowser. The book walks you through each stage and explains what steps you need to take and where you have to go. It had full page maps of each stage that were in color - they were easy to read.
The only thing that I didn't like about it was that it made the game too easy to beat because I just had to follow the book and not do any thinking. It took away the challenge for me, but for some people that is what they want.

Good, But NOT GREAT.,

The guide is good, the walkthrough is fine, but Nintendo just didn't give this one much effort. The game rocks, but the guide lacks some vital detail (Zess T. recipe health stats, Pit of 100 trials detail). The guide is good if you want to get through the basics of the game, but compared to past Nintendo guides (especially the one for the original Paper Mario) this guide is rather dissapointing.
