You can't go wrong with Nintendo Power,
This review is from: Official Nintendo Pokémon FireRed Version & Pokémon LeafGreen Version Player's Guide (Paperback)
If you TRULY deeply want to master Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green then you'll pick up this guide. This is the most comprehensive guide to any Pokemon game ever. In-depth walkthrough to help you get through the game with user friendly maps and trainer tips.
The guide also doesn't waste time saying stupid things to fill you in on events that just happened. The walkthrough gets to the point and stays on track, keeping you informed of new pokemon in an area and keeping you up to date with what Trainer's will use. The Pokedex is amazing and as with most every Nintendo Power guide, has almost no errors whatsoever. Definitive stats to help you decide if you want a Pokemon who can take a lot of damage or dish it all out. The Pokedex is also HUGE. NOT just covering the Pokemon found in FireRed/LeafGreen but they also cover pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire as well. No matter what ANYONE says, you absolutely can't go wrong with Nintendo Power! Nintendo Power makes THE best guides for any game you could possibly buy. If you truly want to master this Pokemon Adventure you MUST grab this guide. Much better than the Prima Guide.

Very Good! Much Better than Others!,

This review is from: Official Nintendo Pokémon FireRed Version & Pokémon LeafGreen Version Player's Guide (Paperback)
This is a very detailed book. I don't look to the walkthru too much, but the pokedex is excellent. It covers pokemon in Leaf Green, Fire Red, Ruby & Sapphire, telling you which pokemon are in which game. Its pokemon locator tells you where each pokemon can be found in the game. This is organized by pokemon. It would have been nice if they had also organized this by area, so you'd know what to look for as you go along. However, this can be downloaded from the internet at places like GameFAQs.
The only other negative is that while it gives incredibly detailed information about the pokemon to be found in FR/LG, the pokedex doesn't give the level up moves, or TM,HM, Egg & Learned moves for the Ruby/Sapphire Pokemon. However, that information can be found in the Official Nintendo guide for R/S. Together, these guides are a great resource. Nonetheless, the information is very extensive. Definitely worth the money.

There ARE little problems you know.,
By
This review is from: Official Nintendo Pokémon FireRed Version & Pokémon LeafGreen Version Player's Guide (Paperback)
This is an incredible guide but that doesn't mean its without its faults. Yes, it does have the most comprehensive walkthrough of all the the Fire Red/Leaf Green guides availible complete with nearly everything you need. Detailed layout in the walkthough, complete Pokedex and items list. All the TM and HM's. This guide really is incredible.
But as I said it isn't without fault. Each time you enter a new area you don't know what Pokemon lurk there. In previous guides Nintendo power put "Many" "Few" or "None" highlighted in the color of the version being played. In this guide they don't do that. The guide also doesn't tell you what to expect from most trainers. Every now and then it mentions something but a lot of the time you're going into battle blind. Lastly, what happened to the helpful Pokemon Profiles? They no longer tell you WHY you might want to catch a pokemon or even reveal their strong points and weak points in a profile anymore. This is an incredible guide (big too) but these small problems mean something to a pokemon trainer who's out to master the game AND have the best course of action in mind.

This book is awesome! It tells about everything. I use it a lot too. It has a few battle moves pages. I like it because it has a great walk thru and pokedex.

I'll have him write his own review but from what I've seen he hasn't put it down and he studies it like he's cramming for a test. It was very detailed and informative. He is 13 and very interested in good quality for what he needs in gaming.

Doesn't show any hidden items, doesn't have charts showing the percentages that pokemon will show up in certain area, doesn't have anything. In fact, sometimes it will outright skip some pokemon in areas altogether, even in the text. Simply not useful. If you really want some maps, it's good for that, but you can get that for free at bulbapedia or gamefaqs, along with percentages and info on all the hidden items (which are about the only things that you shouldn't be able to figure out on your own). I don't recommend this.

This is a perfect guidebook for the FireRed/LeafGreen games. I read it just to look at the pictures since I've already beaten the game, but the pictures are still nice to look at and such. Has detailed information on all the pokemon, and since FireRed/LeafGreen doesn't have a third version associated with its generation, this book would cover it all, whereas a Red/Blue pokemon guide would leave out Yellow.

When this product was asked for by a six-year-old, I knew it was out of print and would be hard to find. I immediately thought of Amazon, and sure enough I found it! It surely made his day!
