Waste of money,

This review is from: The Official Patient's Sourcebook on Avascular Necrosis (Paperback)
The subject line says it all... this book is a waste of money. I have found more information on the web then this "official" book has, more accurate too. It boils down to the usual, no one knows anything of substance about AVN/ON. We're in pain, how about some real research or info for once.

Not Impressed,

This review is from: The Official Patient's Sourcebook on Avascular Necrosis (Paperback)
This book is very basic and I knew more than the book had to say by just doing google searches. The book does have lots and lots of sites to visit on the 'net (too many) but it seems to me that there are more sites listed than actual information! Anyone can do internet searches.....you don't need a book to tell you how. This book is very disappointing. $25 for internet sites that you can get free yourself is highway robbery in my humble opinion. Not impressed at all. A waste of money.

This review is from: The Official Patient's Sourcebook on Avascular Necrosis (Paperback)
Designed for people who are new to avascular necrosis, this sourcebook has been created for patients who have decided to make education and Internet-based research an integral part of the treatment process. Although it gives information useful to doctors, caregivers and other health professionals, it is designed for patients who are less familiar or are new to the Internet as a medical research tool. It tells the reader where and how to look for information covering virtually all topics related to avascular necrosis, from the essentials to the most advanced areas of research. The title of this book includes the word official. This reflects the fact that the sourcebook draws from public, academic, government, and peer-reviewed research. Selected readings from various agencies are compiled and reproduced to give you some of the latest official information available to date on avascular necrosis. Following an introductory chapter, the sourcebook is organized into three parts. PART I: THE ESSENTIALS; Chapter 1. The Essentials on Avascular Necrosis: Guidelines; Chapter 2. Seeking Guidance; Chapter 3. Clinical Trials and Avascular Necrosis; PART II: ADDITIONAL RESOURCES AND ADVANCED MATERIAL; Chapter 4. Studies on Avascular Necrosis; Chapter 5. Books on Avascular Necrosis; Chapter 6. Multimedia on Avascular Necrosis; Chapter 7. Periodicals and News on Avascular Necrosis; Chapter 8. Physician Guidelines and Databases; PART III. APPENDICES; Appendix A. Researching Your Medications; Appendix B. Researching Alternative Medicine; Appendix C. Researching Nutrition; Appendix D. Finding Medical Libraries; Appendix E. NIH Consensus Statement on Total Hip Replacement; ONLINE GLOSSARIES; AVASCULAR NECROSIS GLOSSARY; INDEX. Related topics include: aseptic necrosis, ischemic bone necrosis, osteonecrosis.
