3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not as good as the Deluxe Edition
The Official Pokemon Handbook is very easy to use, and can be very helpful at times. Basically, it has all the information you need from Bulbasaur to Mewtwo. Mew and Togepi appear in the Deluxe (Collector's) Edition. On my opinion, I would go with the Deluxe Edition instead of this one. Pretty good. An overall 3 stars.

I really liked this book it definately helped me to learn the names of the pokemon. The only bad thing about it is in the book it mentions Mew as the rarest pokemon in the world but it dosn't show you him.And it also gives you some hints on the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars The essential guide to all the Pokemon, November 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Official Pokemon Handbook (Pokémon) (Paperback)
If you're a Pokemon fan, whether you play the game or watch the cartoon, you must have this book! It is a complete catalogue of all 150 Pokemon, with pictures, descriptions and advice on their fighting techniques. My daughter will not be parted from her copy of this book, bringing it to bed with her every night.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book rocks!!!, October 1, 1999

This book is really cool, I recomend this book to Pokemon lovers!!! I got the Pokemon game ( Blue version ) and this book helps me so much. It's very colourful, has a picture of each 150 pokemon, shows the order that the pokemon evolves to and when, ect.... There is only one thing, I don't think Hitmonlee evolves into Hitmonchan.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's sooooooo cool!, November 4, 1999

This review is from: The Official Pokemon Handbook (Pokémon) (Paperback)
I love this book! It has some awsome info on all Pokémon, especialy Pikachu! Also, I love the VERY VERY VERY CUTE pic Pika! Plus, I love the EXTRA BIG (AND I MEAN BIG! ) Pics, too! The ONLY ONLY thing I don't like about it is the price! I'm asking these two things though: can you please PLEASE (if you can)make books one for each pokémon, and (if you can) tell the pokémon game makers to make pokémon games for other systems too (super nitendo, playstaion)? I would LOVE that! I am going to become a pokémon trainer (I'm 12) Thanks!

This review is from: The Official Pokemon Handbook (Pokémon) (Paperback)
I have the Collector's Edition which tell you about 2 new Pokeman that the regular book doesn't. They are MEW and TOGEPI. This book let's you know their Element, Type, Height, Weight, Techniques, Strengths, Weaknesses, Evolution, When they evolve(level), and other Techniques. It also tells you about the Trainers and the Gym Leaders with their secrets and types of Pokeman. It also explains why and how they battle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Pictures and Great Stats for Every Pkmn!, August 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Official Pokemon Handbook (Pokémon) (Paperback)
This Handbook is all I'll ever need when it comes to looking up a specific Pkmn. The top ten ways to take care of your Pkmn (Pokemon),FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions) and Check list at the end of the book are a nice touch. The begining of the book is awsome too. The cover of the book seems to attract many different ages of people to it. There is one thing about it - it doesn't have Mew, of course it might be before Mew's time or Maria S. Barbo may have only wanted the original Pkmn in it - the 150 characters. The only thing I'd change would be to put more stuff in the ending pages. Oh, and I love the pic. at the end of the book! Anyways, I rate The Official Pokemon Handbook like so : * * * * * - Five Stars!!!

Totally Wonderful Work, Maria S. Barbo! It's a great buy! - NavyBlu :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good!, January 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Official Pokemon Handbook (Pokémon) (Paperback)
I had this book when i was a kid but it got thrown away. Ordering it was a nice way to revisit some good memories. The only downside is that some of the info is slightly off/ made up. For example on page 37 in Pikachu's description it says "Pikachu do not like to be inside Poke Balls". This is a generalized statement based off of the fact that Ash's pikachu doesn't like to be in his poke ball. This is also the case with the surfing pikachu ash and the gang meet during season 1 of the tv show. Slight discrepancies like this are common throughout the book. That is the only downside to this book, otherwise its very interesting and also worth the money.
