2.0 out of 5 stars Handy for checklists in one volume, but lacks research., August 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Official Price Guide to Collectible Card Games (Paperback)
This book is excellent if you want a checklist reference in one volume. However, there is no evidence that any research went into the creating of this book. There are almost no gamer details about each set, and critical data on variations, alpha editions, etc. is sorely lacking. For example, there is no mention of the many significant variations in the Primary edition of Galactic Empires; and the alpha "Legend of Five Rings" is not even mentioned (These had red lines in the black borders).

also, the publisher says this book is "lavishly illustrated"... what a joke! There are only a few small black and white illustrations included. Essentially, this book just represents a collected resource of previously published checklists from various gamer magazines. This book may be adequate for the game player, but not for the serious collector, (other than as mentioned above).
