An unexpected treasure!,

I bought this book in 1978 because I loved Star Trek, and loved to cook. When I started trying the recipes, I was really surprised at how good they all were. My absolute favorite is Keekar Yarok, which is actually Greek spanakopita. It's quite easy to make, and absolutely wonderful. I've eaten authentic spanakopita at Greek festivals, and can honestly say that this recipe is every bit as good as theirs. I have a huge collection of cookbooks, but this is one of my favorites. Highly recommended!

I got this book back in 1978 because I was a pre-teen Star Trek fan, not because I was all that interested in cooking. My enthusiam for ST got me into the kitchen and I started cooking for my bemused family. Well, they weren't laughing for long!Believe it or not, the recipes in this book were not bad at all. Even now, 32 years later, having won various cooking competitions and known in my circle as a gourmet chef, I still keep my old copy of the Star Trek Cooking Manual on the shelf with my other cookbooks! If you can get it cheap (I think I paid 95 cents for mine) definitely go for it. PS: Everyone's favorite recipe was the one for Montgomery Scott's Scot's Broth. It really is the best I've ever had! |
