Review

"this book is like a faithful companion, waiting patiently to whisk you away from a tedious and grey world. It'll appeal to all of those who want a good bit of escapism, some interesting bits of science, and a new look at Indie."

Darcy Fray has the imagination and vision to be a terrific thriller writer. I enjoyed this book and it made for a great decompression following a crazy week. This type of thriller is difficult to write and she has made it entertaining and intellectually stimulating at the same time. I will definitely read anything else that she produces; her intelligence is acute and it shows. There are a few too many killings for my taste; I think that she has been a little tempted into the "24" mode of, uh, overkill. Less is more. That said, a review of some of the best thriller writers from the past (Eric Ambler?) and another go at harnessing that wonderful imagination and I am going to be at the top of her cheering section. Should you read this - for sure, it is better than most out there and it certainly made my day. This review is the result of a free download in exchange for an honest review.

Had a blast reading this one. Offers an action packed escape to another world. The pacing and plot twists are right where they need to be and the high concept science and international locations propel this adventure along. Fray's intelligent writing style is a breath of fresh air in the crowded thriller genre. Looking forward to her next one and hope it comes soon.

The Officially Unofficial Files of Dr. Gordon B. Gray was a welcome surprise as a first book from author Darcy Fray. A very well written and nicely paced thriller. From the beginning I was hooked on what became of the residents of the town of DUST. Great characterization and an obvious attention to detail kept me turning the pages. The military research on this book alone is to be applauded. It’s so hard today to find a novel that grabs you from the first page and keeps you along for the whole ride! I have to admit, I laughed out loud at the dialogue for the Youtube video on the Blue light! If you like mystery, intrigue, then you will absolutely enjoy book one of this series. I’m very much looking forward to book two. I have no doubt I am going to become a lifelong fan of this author. 5 Stars for sure!

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book about Dr. Gray. I am an avid sci-fi watcher/reader and this book did not disappoint. Intelligent and thoughtfully written, I am happy to admit I had to use the glossary on my kindle more than once. The author's excellent use of reality throughout the book made for a storyline that was, at times, so believable, I found myself doing a little research to see which parts were actually fiction. The enjoyment of the science fiction genre is often tied to the writer's ability to tell a story that feels like it just might (or will someday) be true. This book delivered. A great read!

Fast paced, well-written page turner with everything from intrigue, mystery and a few very dark scenes through to lovely light touches of humor. Good read for those who like intelligent but readable fiction with a bit of science thrown in. The quirky, slightly socially awkward protagonist is very likable and the plot draws you in and keeps you up at night to finish reading. Looking forward to more from this author.

I received a free digital copy of this book in return for my honest review.

I couldn't put The Officially Unofficial Files of Dr. Gordon B. Gray down!
A page turner, with plot twists to rival a good old fashioned spy novel, and tech to make James Bond marvel.
With her sharp writing style, Darcy Fray has created a unique and intriguing world I cannot wait to delve into once again.
Excited to see where she will take Gordon in Book two!

A great first book that leaves the reader in suspense throughout. Dr. Gordon Gray is a unique character that is extremely refreshing. The author has broken away from the conventional traits of main characters in other spy/mystery novels. I am already looking forward to the next book.
