Chicane (real name Nick Bracegirdle) is well-known to listeners of ambient and trance music. He's released a ton of albums and singles, but it's this single, Offshore, that's my favorite of his. The reason for this is the Disco Citizens Remix. Disco Citizens is another alias of Nick's, so you have here an artist remixing his own work. There's some confusion over it too. See, there are Two different Disco Citizens Remix -- the one on this single is 9:23 in length and there's a foreign single with one that's 9:48 in length. The 9:23 version is the more ambient of the two with a sleepy, peaceful rhythm in the middle of the track that causes me to lose all my stresses. The 9:48 version's more upbeat, but equally relaxing and uplifting.

Finally, the next best version of Offshore hails from 2003's IceCream Man and his vinyl release, Onshore. If you want a clubby, uplifting mix of Offshore with harder breaks, head straight for the Screwball Mix of Onshore. What IceCream Man does to the lead in his breakdown is amazing beyond words. Equally as beautiful as the Disco Citizens Remix(es). Wish he'd release it to CD-Single already.

This is the true Ibiza anthem, that brought Chicane the master of ethereal dreamhouse and trance to thousands of devoted fans throughout. The music is so melodic, that instantly one just falls in love with its unique rhythm...!

I first discovered the ambient mix of Chicane's "Offshore" back in the summer of 1997.. and it blew me away... ever since that time I listen each and every single day at "Offshore", just to recapture those past days. Truly a miraculous piece of music!
