This is an inexpensive and stylish mechanical, analog timer. It looks pretty sturdy, but I'm not going to drop-test it as the knob is plastic even if the case isn't. It's very easy to set, fairly easy to read from 10-25 feet away if you want to keep an eye on the time left while watching TV and waiting for dinner to cook.

My only gripe is the alarm isn't that loud--it almost sounds muffled--and it is way too short. I recommend Oggi double the length of time the alarm sounds and perhaps make it a bit louder too.

I was cleaning it lightly one day with a damp cloth - nothing abrasive. I looked down and had erased every number and marking from 20 minutes to 45 minutes. After a year it is virtually impossible to read most of the numbers or markings. None of the numbers are legible.

It doesn't ring when the time is out, and even rings at the other wrong time. I'll return it.

I bought this timer a few months ago...It is junk....Stopped working 2 days after I got it....Would not recommend for anyone

I guess my expectations aren't as high as others who rated this item. It is simple, attractive, and does exactly what I purchased it to do - count off the minutes and ding when the time is up. The brushed stainless goes with my appliances as well. I don't want to have to take 10 minutes to program a digital timer just to set it each time - this one is good enough for me.

1 Star because it looks great, winds easily but... DOESN'T RING. Well, actually it does ring, but very low volume and only for a split second. Forget trying to leave the room. I have to carry it with me so I hear the ring and even then, if someone in the house makes a noise at the same time as the ringer... you will never hear it. Amazon should take this item off their site. It is a terrible product and not worth the time and effort to return it.

Knew the minute I spun the dial to set the Oggi kitchen alarm I had made a mistake. The winding was loose, had to shake it sometimes to get it started and listen to make sure it was running. Then when it did go off--this never failed--the bell was a muffled ringing that could not be heard in the next room like my old Taylor timer. After two months one is already in the dumpster with something internally broken. What a piece of garbage--teaches me about going cheap I suppose.

Knob/Dial broke after about 2-3 months of light use (once a week). Very cheap, you get what you pay for.
