I've a had a couple of sets of these canisters for a little over a year now but noticed them on amazon so thought I'd add my thoughts...

The design is great - the recessed handles allow you to easily hold them securely whilst opening/using/closing.

They are a nice weight and thickness of ceramic, and have stainless steel spoons included that fit neatly in a notch on the side of each canister. The lid is sealed by a metal clamp and there is a silicone gasket under the lid to give a good seal. Are they 100% airtight? I'm not sure but I've had no problem with storing baking and coffee products in mine - the contents have remained fresh and good for months at a time.

Out of interest I tried another reviewer's "water-test" - I know I really should have better things to do with my time but what the heck. Anyway, I didn't see any water leaking out - maybe the other guy just needs to make sure the lid is seated properly on the gasket - I guess they are removable for cleaning purposes.

This 4-peice ceramic set of canisters are really some of the very best canisters that I have ever owned and used. They not only look great, but they are very functional.

Each of the canisters comes with its own spoon, securely attached to the interior of it and there is even a handle on the sides of each canister which makes it even easier to lift. The canisters have a flat top (that is solid black, not see-through) so they're stackable. The inside of each of the canisters includes a rubber airtight seal and the rings are held together by stainless steel hardware.

Although the manufacturer states that they're dishwasher safe I strongly do not recommend putting these in the dishwasher because if yours is anything like mine, anything that can break, will. But they're very simple to clean and keep clean. I just hand wash them in hot soapy water. By the way, these retain water (no leaks, drips or cracks). And to keep the containers nice and polished I buff each canister with Mr. Clean Wipes from time to time.

The canisters are perfect for holding all of your kitchen cooking supplies. I keep flour (nearly an entire 2 pound bag), sugar (more than 1 pound), corn starch (an entire standard-sized box) and rice (a medium-to-small sized bag) in mine. And here's a tip, use your Avery labels to label what's in each of the cans. I labeled the inside of each of the lids and the bottoms of each. I also included the volume measurements of each on the lables (since this was not stated anywhere by Oggi).

Speaking of the volume measurements they are:

7 cups - this is the Jumbo canister

6 cups - this is the Large canister

6 cups - this is the Medium canister (although it's smaller in terms of weight, the volume is the same as the large)

4 cups - this is the Small canister

And, each of the spoons are 2 tablespoons in volume.

Although I do not keep my canisters out on display, they would look beautiful on any kitchen countertop. I love that they're black and ceramic, it gives it both a classic and somewhat of an "old world look."

One thing I wanted to mention is that the picture that is displayed is slightly inacurate. It is a distorted image of the clip that is used to close the canisters, the picture makes it look 6 times larger than it really is.

I hope you will get as much use out of your canister set as I have out of mine. Remember, you are what you cook!

I'm not going to give these a water test, a gas test or set up a special testing program for the international space station, OK? What I will test them for is convenience and ease of handling. If you want vacuum-tested, scientific kitchen apparatus, that's fine for you. I want something I can put stuff in, keep it relatively safe, and use easily.

This set does it.

I'd gotten one just for tea and loved the square shape with the handle built in and spoon on the side. Simple design that works. A great idea for tea that I wouldn't keep stored for three years anyway. I wanted one for coffee.

Then I saw this set, and it's fantastic. Now I use two for coffee (a smaller one for my French Market), one for cereal and one for crackers. I was going to use one for cookies; but I got carried away.

Cookies need to have more fun, anyway. And don't hang around me long enough to worry about seals.

They are advertised as air tight - not so. The latches are flimsy and look cheap. Sending back and will keep searching.

I went ahead and ordered these units even after the poor reviews. I believed the rave reviews that these units are great. Boy was I disappointed upon receiving the containers. First off these units are poorly molded and DO NOT seal airtight. I filled them with water and turned them over. All of them leaked- from a moderate trickle to a complete gush of water which emptied the largest unit in about 15 seconds. If they leak water they are not air tight. I messed with the seals on them for quite a bit and determined that the lips of the containers are not even. Therefore they can never form a complete seal. This makes these containers pointless since anything you put into them will be exposed to the open air. It is too bad because I love the square shape as it makes for compact storage. The spoons mounting to the side is also very handy. The silicone gasket will stand up to years of use, if the darn things sealed properly. And the sizes are convenient. However, the point of an "air tight" storage container is to keep your foodstuffs away from the air. These units just dont cut it in my opinion.

I bought a brand new set of these took them home and started washing them in the sink only to notice that all four of the containers leaked water around the so called air tight seal. I made sure the gaskets were in a good position and that they did not have any debris in the way but still everyone leaked water when clasped down, and fast. These are very poorly cast and the flaws can easily be seen with the naked eye. Keep shopping around and don't support this poor quality China made ceramic.

I really like the containers. They look great in my kitchen. The latches that lock are a little cheap but they get the job done. they haven't broken yet one of the latches is a little crooked. I thought that the big one was going to be a little bigger. I tried to put a whole bag of sugar in it but it only held most of it. the second biggest one i keep my coffee in and it fits just fine. I would like to find a bigger one to hold my flour. They are great looking but if you want to store whole bags of flour and sugar you should look to find something bigger.

Love the angular shapes and the handles. Functional too, except the angles make it a little harder to get the stuff out of the canisters when you get to the bottom. My only negative is that the metal prongs on the back are stiff. Even so they close and seal nicely. This looks much better for my coffees and sugars than other canisters I had!

I bought these for the wife because she changed her color scheme

in the kitchen to stainless steel and black.

These looked good, however the mechanism is flimsy.

The closure mechanism is misaligned and the sealer is thin.

When it comes to these types of canisters, they are not made

like they used to be. Cheap. Probably made in China.

I was disappointed in the quality or lack of it.

says air tight... i should've believed the other reviews. they do NOT even seat. if you discounted the bend cheap metal that hold it together, the shape of the lid and canister would never make a seal.
