the jars have a pretty good seal, but not perfect. i used them to make kimchi and noticed that some juice came dripping from the lid. probably good for less intense storage though.

Very attractive and solid, but not super air-tight. The lids screw-on, without any rubber stripping along the interior edges, so, while these may be appropriate for storing raw beans or pasta, they wouldn't be ideal for storing coffee beans, crackers, or anything that needs its crispness or aroma preserved. Also, don't make the mistake I made - I put the lids in the dishwasher, and the interior tracking grooves separated from the stainless steel part. Oops!

As mentioned they are not airtight, but they look very nice. I like items with steel. They dont seem of such high quality but for storing pasta that's more than enough! I'd buy it again without any hesitation!!
