This review is from: Ogi: A History of the Japanese Fan (Hardcover)
A recommended read for anyone interested in the history and aesthetics of the Japanese fan. A basic historical review which traces the developements in taste and techniques. A good survey of the many types and cateqories of the subject, including different sections of Japanese original styles versus the WESTERN idea of what a Japanese fan is. Exquisite pictures of superb examples, though sometimes one wishes they were larger, but then the price would be higher, I imagine.
