About me...My first bike was an 01 Yamaha R1 in 2006. Ive had 2 more since then. Until this backpack Ive only rode with the backpacks I took to class.

This is not a cross over backpack you can use, say for hiking or probably even class. Its for riding, and riding fast if you choose to. I know what your thinking, "Ive been ridiculously fast with a regular pack", you and everyone else. And for the most part a regular pack sucks. Zippers, straps, flaps, pockets, stuff flies everywhere. Not to mention traditional packs shift around on you quite a bit depending on which one you use. This will take all that out of the equation, and will actually make you feel a little more stable at speeds. So, lets dig in....The overall quality of the bag is very high. You wont find cheap materials or short cuts on the bag. And you shouldn't for the cost. The outer covering on the bag is a type of rubberized coating that scratches easily. This is the only short coming I see with materials. All the straps on the bag have an elastic band to hold extra strap. This doesn't work and needs fixed. The strap will eventually work loose. The shoulder strap has a release on it. Just genius. When you ride with a leather jacket on you really cant move your arms that much, but with the release you simply reach up to underneath your arm pit, squeeze the clip and the pack falls off. It will fit a pair of shoes, jeans and shirt. Dont get greedy, you don't need more than that. Now lets go riding

Recap

Cons:
Its really only a riding bag
straps still come loose a little
coating scratches
main zipper on the inside makes you turn it over to open it

Pros
looks cool
no drag, no shifting
no external anything
stable at speeds
comes right off with a jacket on
overall high quality
comfortable

Was going to buy a cheaper pack for myself during Christmas time when a family member said they would buy me one so I chose this one. I had seen the mach 1 in a store and liked it a lot, except it looked kind of small. Reading up, i found that as the "mach" numbers go up, so does the size. So i figured I'd give the mach 3 a try (at the time, the mach 5 was out of my budget and i have a dual visor helmet so I don't need the visor storage or a couple of other things).

At first when I got the pack it seemed like it was a good size, but then I started thinking about all the stuff I would want to carry and then I was thinking it was to small. But I must say that after a month of continuous usage, it is not to small. I can go to the gym and pack my gym stuff in it and then go to the store and get a gallon of water and a couple other small things and they all fit comfortably. This backpack disperses weight very evenly and the padding is extremely comfortable. Most of the time I forget its even there. Everything is great about this pack. My other backpack I was using for school got messed up so for the past 2 weeks I have been using this everyday for school and riding and it is great. Does not move around my back what so ever. I've taken it up to 140mph with no distractions from it moving around.

The only downside I can think of for this pack is the outer coating. It takes a little bit of getting used to having something stick out of your back all the time and one time I turned and scraped the point of it on a wall and it took off some of the coating. The material underneath is black as well so it is not noticeable unless you look for it. The black has kinda been rubbed off of the "chords" that run down the back of where the material changes, but that isn't to bad.

The design of this bag is great. Plenty of little pockets here and there for all sorts of random things. Hardshell seems durable. The design of the main pocket and straps seems to be well thought out. There's great padding on the back and shoulder straps and the bag is comfortable in my opinion. I barely notice it's there when i'm riding. The only complaint I have is that within the first or second week the threads on the stretchy part under the shoulder strap started to tear. I could hear them tearing more each time I put on the bag and i'm not a big guy either, my jacket size is a small.

My son is destruction on two legs. We went through several backpacks each school year. So middle school came around and I decided it was my turn to pick the pack. I picked this one! And We STILL HAVE THE BAG TODAY. He was scared to take it on the bus the first day we had it, but the older kids thought it was cool and B.A. so from that day forward so did my son. It had pockets on the inside that keep laptops or ipads safe and comfy. There is plenty of room inside for books, gym shoes, and JUNK! We should paint it green and make it look like turtle shell - but with high school around the corner, mom's geeky ideas are TOTALLY NOT COOL! Thankfully, the backpack still is

So I never really thought about drag. I just always had a sensation associated with riding with a backpack - an additional buffeting and backwards pull on the shoulders. It wasn't really that much of a bother, but this backpack eliminates it almost completely. So highly recommended in general, strongly recommended if you do a lot of hurricane rides.

Build construction is good, only thing I am suspicious of are the plastic snaps. It's a bit less convenient than a regular backpack because the zipper is not outward facing - but this is a design feature, just something to be mindful of.

Capacity is good, fits my laptop. Probably not one of those bags you can overstuff, so the zipper will thank me.
