One of the best RPG/Stratagies ever made,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen (Video Game)
I own a copy of the game and I am here to tell anyone who is looking for a good Stratagy/RPG to pick up this game. It has a great plot(though its hard to learn everything in one passing throught the game). You are the leader of the Revolutionary Amry who wan'ts to save the Zenobians from the evil sage Rashidi who betraded his friend King Gran Zenobia. During the game you meet many different characters and people. Some join your side, some give you helpful items, and some are evil and attack you. Also there are 13 different endings and some of the end in an evil way. So you can be evil and take over the continent after you destory the current rulers or you could destory the Zentingian army so that the rightful desendent of King Gran Zenobia, Trisdam, can become the king. Thier is also a very evil ending and a very good ending. In the very evil ending you give a demon the Bruinhild sword and he eventually takes you over and kills your friends. In the very good ending you become ruler of Zenobia and lead it to prosperity.

this game was the very first ever of its type. think of it like an on-line rpg, with 20 people(each controling a group) all under your command. By broadening the focus of the game so that individual battles are mostly pretty minor, you get to focus more on character developement and strategy. great game

Best SNES Strategy RPG!!!,

I think only Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy can top this game for greatest SNES game of all time. Though the game lacked a little polish in parts, overall this is a strong contender for best SNES game.
The PS remake was a little lackluster though. I recommend playing the SNES version and not dealing with annoying loading times and weird camera angles. First: you DO NOT control your units, instead each unit has a set number and types of attacks based on their class and location in either front or back row. You can dictate tactics and change tactics mid battle (basically telling them to focus on the strongest, weakest, enemy unit leader, or the enemy they will hit for most damage). Tarot cards can help affect the outcome of battles when used properly as well. Also note that your hero gains experience from enemies killed with Tarot cards and can level up insanely fast and lose Alignment and charisma this way (for those who have played this game). The graphics are great, the battles take place on an open book with the particular terrain type represented. Battles are quick and interesting, the sprites have good animations for their attacks. The music is some of the best for SNES. There are not a ton of individual music pieces, but they are quality. The replay value is INSANELY HIGH! Try replaying the game and following the path of evil! Recruit different units and different optional NPCs! There are several different endings based on the path you follow, the NPCs you recruit, and the attitude of the people towards you. I have beaten the game and seen at least 6 or 7 endings and I hear their are more than 10. Highly recommended if you like FF Tactics and other strategy based games.

I don't own a Super Nintendo at this time. I have kids now, and my ex took it with him when he went. Plus I don't like most video games, so I can't justify the cost. BUT, I have seriously considered buying a Super Nintendo JUST so I can play this game again. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I'm really hoping they'll put it out for PC someday (came by to see if they had and decided to write a review). That or I'll just buy it when my kids are older and have their own SNS. ;) Until then, it's Dungeon Keeper for me! Just one comment about graphics, though: I'm personally happy with online RPG that are just words (descriptions of what's going on and conversations between players), but I realize a lot of people really want great graphics. If you're one of them, this isn't a game for you. The graphics aren't very good, just a map with little icons that move around, and then a little bit more during the (sometimes tedious) battles. But if you're more into the thinking and actual game, and don't care about graphics, this is one of the best!

Let me get something out of the way; this game is classic. It's a hidden gem on the Super Nintendo, and it's a great addition to anyone's collection.
That being said, unless you're totally intent on acquiring this game in its cartridge form, there are other ways you can obtain it for far less money. Many of you might chime in and recommend emulation, but since I don't have any experience with emulation and don't know the legal requirements of the emulation process, I hesitate to suggest it. However, there is a legitimate way to acquire this game for far less money by purchasing it off of the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. The Virtual Console has many classic games spanning a variety of systems. Many of the these games are FAR cheaper than their cartridge counterparts, and some of them are not. Ogre Battle currently retails for 800 Wii points or $8.00 on the Virtual Console. What you will need: 1. You will need a Wii, and while the console will set you back $250, the Wii will essentially pay for itself because it offers MANY rare titles in addition to Ogre Battle. 2. You will need internet access. The Wii is Wi-Fi compatible right out of the box, but if you don't have a wireless router, you can purchase a fairly inexpensive device that will allow you to connect an ethernet cord to the Wii. If you have to purchase such a device, you may also need to purchase an ethernet cord or at least a longer one than what you have. 3. You will need an SD card to download your games onto. It is possible to download your games onto the Wii's hardware, but hardware space is severely limited, so I would definitely recommend purchasing a card or two. They are fairly inexpensive on amazon, and a variety of SD cards are compatible with the Wii, not just the Wii brand SD cards. You will also need to download a Wii update that will allow you to play virtual console games off of your SD card. 4. You will need a debit/credit card to purchase Wii points that will allow you to purchase games. Simply input the correct information in the required fields, and that's all there is to it. 5. Lastly, check out a certain website that I'm not allowed to mention here for reviews of Virtual Console games so you can make an informed purchase. It's also worth noting that the Virtual Console offers many games that can't be bought on Amazon like import games such as Sin and Punishment (really fun) or NEO GEO games, which I have yet to find on Amazon; however, those are just a few examples. I could certainly elaborate further, but I think you have the general idea. In conclusion, the Virtual Console has literally hundreds of games to choose from, and it doesn't end there, either. You can also purchase titles from Nintendo's WiiWare service. For the retro gamer, the Wii can be an invaluable resource, and it comes highly recommended.

The best strategy game on the SNES,

The thing that makes this game great is because there are no other games like it. Another thing that helps it is there is ... classes, and it took me 100+ hours to beat. So if you want a good game to play, and u want to play it for a long time, buy this game, or you can always download the rom first than buy it on the SNES or PSX.
