4.0 out of 5 stars Overall, a very good book, April 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ogre's Pact: The Twilight Giants Book One (Forgotten Realms) (Mass Market Paperback)
When I first heard about this series, I wasn't sure how good it was going to be when the story revolved around giants. I was wrong. This is actually one of the better trilogies in the Forgotten Realms setting. There is a well-developed storyline, most of the characters are likeable, and the descriptions involving battles both against the weather and the antagonists are quite good. Now, the bad part. I absolutely hated Brianna. She is spoiled, selfish, and stupid--and it only gets worse in the two following novels. Now the main character, Tavis, on the other hand, is an extremely likeable character, who is doing everything within his power to save Brianna. This is the main problem I found with the series. Because Brianna was such an annoying character, I didn't even want Tavis to save her. My advice is: try to ignore Brianna's infuriating nature, and you will probably enjoy the series.

If you like Forgotten Realms novels, then you will certainly enjoy this. Also-check out Forgotten Realms' Horselords, a very entertaining book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best trilogy ever!!, April 20, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ogre's Pact: The Twilight Giants Book One (Forgotten Realms) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought that the adventures of Drizzt D. could not be beaten, and I now stand corrected. I read the entire trilogy in one week, because the action was just too good to set the books down! Another reviewer mentioned that Brianna was irritating, and I agree. Yet, you have to hate somebody in a good story, just as much as you should fall in love with the hero. I would avise anyone that this is the Trilogy you cannot pass up.
