Editorial Reviews

Not only the epitome of cuteness, Shirley Temple was a very talented young lady who brought much cheer to America and the world through the gloomy days of the 1930s and beyond. This new JASMINE release features all the well-known film soundtrack favourites like Animal Crackers In My Soup & On The Good Ship Lollipop , as well as a few titles never issued before on CD. In the 1930s two very talented young ladies helped save two of Hollywood's major film companies from the threat of bankruptcy. Universal Pictures were having a bad time when they took a gamble on Deanna Durbin in 1936 but after the success of her first film, "Three Smart Girls", never looked back. A little earlier, Fox Films were also bouncing around 'in the red' when a cute little girl arrived at their front door. The year was 1934 and the new arrival was Shirley Temple. Unlike Miss Durbin, who had appeared in only one short film before Universal signed her, Miss Temple, just five years old and already on the way to becoming a seasoned veteran, was very familiar with the intricacies of movie-making - she was credited with a whole fistful of short subjects. To Charles Lamont of Educational Film Corporation must go the credit for giving the screen one of its most endearing and enduring acts. His visit to Mrs. Meglin's Dance Studio, where Shirley was a pupil, was where it all began.

I loved the Shirley Temple CD, Oh My Goodness. All of the tracks sounded just like they did in the movies. I especially enjoyed the songs Animal Crackers in My Soup, Codfish Ball, and When I'm With You. I recommend this CD to everyone of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, My Goodness! What a CD!, August 23, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Oh My Goodness [ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED] (Audio CD)
This had become one of my favorite CDs. The song clarity is wonderful and sound just like they did in the movies. With a large variety of songs from 'Baby, Take a Bow' (Stand up and Cheer, 1934) to 'Lay-De-O' (The Blue Bird, 1940), you can see how her voice has matured from a talented, young, tap-dancing five-year-old, to a dramatic actress/singer at age 12. From impressions of Al Joelson and dancing with a dummy of Fred Astaire, to singing on the radio and aboard an airplane, this little star will make you S-M-I-L-E, for animal crackers and lollipops.

4.0 out of 5 stars Every song is on the other sets, September 10, 2001

Oh My Goodness! EVERY song on this CD is in the 60 song, 3 CD box set "Stand Up and Cheer" except for "Fifth Avenue" and "Lay-De-Oh", but those two ARE in the 51 song, two volume compilation, "America's Sweetheart"...

So, if you will ever want to own all of the songs from Shirley's movies it would be much better to buy those other two sets.
