Biography

Following the disbandment of the short-lived synth pop group Yazoo, former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke formed Erasure in 1985 with singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft, than either of Clarke's previous bands. Furthermore, Erasure had the flamboyantly… Read more in Amazon's Erasure Store

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it!, November 11, 2003
This review is from: Oh L'Amour (Audio CD)
Although I was familiar with this song (and Erasure!), I bought it because my young nephew liked the cover and figured he'd like the song too. I was right, he loves it - but I like it lots more!

There are three versions of "Oh, L'amour" here, all of them great! The first and last are very different - one very acoustic, the other much more electronic - but both respect the original version of the song and don't ruin the song. The other version is a club-oriented track that I probably won't listen to much at home, but is still fun to dance to. Like all b-sides, the two included here aren't spectacular songs, but they're charming and grew on me after a couple of plays. So yeah, I'd reccomend it!

3.0 out of 5 stars erasures Oh L'amour remixed again?, November 14, 2003
By
This review is from: Oh L'Amour (Audio CD)
I am a big fan of erasure and when they decided to remix Oh L'Amour I was wondering why do they want to remix this song again instead of releasing another new song. The remixes were not that good for Oh l'amour. The only good thing on this CD were the 2 new songs.

I have to agree with chris cotham. The single is absolutely awesome! I love the carsten croyer remix. I give it 5 stars because it is everything i have personally come to expect from erasure. I look forward to their upcomming release in january 2005. for those of you interested in the album go to http://www.erasureinfo.com/ (im not advertising it, im just reccomending the resource).
