Floating somewhere between Denmark and the States is Oh Land, a sonic territory lush with strings, anchored by sub-beats and glitches and buoyed by bright, vampy vocals. --Filter September 2010

If you could bottle up the sounds that live in those magical Disney forests and lace it with a buttery vocal, it would be Oh Land. And that my friends, is called pure incantation. --New York Post October 2010

The syncopated vocal loops and dubstep womps of Sun of a Gun rocketed straight to the top of Hype Machine...ARTIST TO WATCH IN 2011 --NME December 2010

Product Description

Oh Land is without question one of the most talked about new artists for 2011, landing on many critics' must-listen lists in advance of her highly anticipated debut album. The eleven song album is a mix of lavish loops and layered vocals that pound through on songs like the album s first single Sun of a Gun. The jungle drumming electro-pop of songs like White Nights evokes a quest to find peace and a sense of home in the chaos of a city that never sleeps. The speaker-panning samples and honeyed hooks of Dan Carey (The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip) and Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode, Beyoncé, AFI) along with Oh Land have created an album of rich harmonies, beautiful symphonic arrangements over the enchanting voice of Oh Land.

This album is all of my secrets, wishes, dreams and fears, explains Oh Land. I tell stories from my life wrapped in fairytales and fables all happening in the dreamy landscapes of a world I call Oh Land. I hope people will find an escape in the music and let their thoughts and dreams run wild, just for a moment.

Welcome to a new sound. I first heard this band over a year ago on a blog and I was blown away. To say I've been waiting for this is a bit of an underestimate. Oh Land is female Nanna Řland Fabricius. I think I once read that her instruments were all hand made and she recorded some demos in her bedroom- she's THAT good. Her sound is whimsical meets electronica with a little bit of mystery mixed in. My favorite track on the album is definitely White Nights.

These dreams under my pillow
In the twilight of these white nights
These dreams under my pillow
In the twilight of these white nights

Her voice is just totally unique...and this album ROCKS. If you enjoy Regina Spektor or Shivaree (look her up too) then you will be equally amazed at Oh Land. My favorite tracks are White Nights, Rainbow, Perfection, and Sun of a Gun. Do yourself a favor. If you're bored of the same old sound on the radio listen to these tracks and sit back. Totally different sound!

Amazing album! So talented, and you hear it with every song. Her voice is so beautiful, it flows so well. Before you know it, the CD is over!
My favorite songs are:
Voodoo
Human
White Nights
She does remind me of Florence + The Machine. But, her voice is her's, not at all like Florence. Can't wait for another album.

If you only give Oh Land a passing glance, you may be tempted to label her as just another up-and-coming blonde-bombshell pop diva. Although your assessment does not entirely miss the mark (she is a blonde bombshell afterall), her style is much more akin to Bjork or Beth Gibbons (or maybe even Regina Spektor) than the more stereotypical pop acts like Katy Perry or [insert other shameless sellout here]. There is a rich depth and maturity to her sound that can pique the interest of even the most seasoned musician... but the catchy beats will also ensure that her stuff ends up on playlists at dance parties everywhere. If Oh Land is indicative of where mainstream pop is headed, the future looks bright indeed.

"Oh Land" restored my faith in pop music. This girl finds ways to create catchy beats with cute little quirks that make a sound that is distinctly her own. It's refreshingly different while still being catchy and upbeat. Definitely worth a listen.

I was skeptical at first, but upon hearing the album, I thought it was rather good. She is definitely hard to categorize, but modern pop comes to mind. Stand out track are Human, son of a gun and human. I have been trying to think of who Oh Land reminds me of, but the answer is elusive. Regardless, if you like Kate Bush - you should like Oh Land.

I fall in love with this CD more and more as time goes on. I heard about Oh Land back in 09 when I fell in love the Fauna album. I was so excited to learn she got a deal with Sony and was going to distribute her music internationally. This girl knows her stuff! She has a beautiful and rather unique voice. This cd thrills my soul provided by her wonderful harmonic arrangements, and her awesome production. She seems to pull the best elements of pop, classical, rhythm and blues, and tribal sounds together with out making it sound anything but a unified masterpiece. I like commercial music, but I've become completely bored with what labels put out today. This album is heaven sent. I hope she continues to release music because no one gets it right like this. Its hard to pick a favorite but to me, White Nights is like number one hit in an alternate universe. It's so sad how stuck the radio is. The absolute best song, has to be Wolf and I. It's an incredible take on an old fable. After falling in love with Wolf and I, you'll never overlook a full moon again in your life!

I first heard Oh Land's music when I saw her live in Chicago before Sia (Furler), the main act, went on. And "Oh" my god, she (and her one man band) were outstanding.

With the voice of a sexy angel, fresh lyrical style, and crazy cool beats, I highly recommend this album if you like dance/pop/female pop music.

Never heard of Oh Land? Neither had I, but on the advice of a friend from Europe, I bought the CD and I'm loving it.

Is Oh Land a woman? A group? Who knows, but the sound is original and happy without being syrupy sweet. Good beats and a few tricks and twists (strings anyone?) keep things interesting. Topping it all off are great vocals, that run the range from not-quite-pop to alterna-vamp, without being too heavy (and not at all dark).

Most people talk about the layered vocals, and while they're nice, I personally got hooked more on the lyrics and the little "tweaks" she does with her voice- almost playing with the words, but in a way that makes it exactly right. I didn't fall in love with the CD the first time I listened to it, but after a couple times through I wouldn't give it away for all the money in, well, in a decent sized jar.

Oh Land describes this album as her stories "wrapped in fairytales and fables all happening in the dreamy landscapes of a world I call Oh Land. I hope people will find an escape in the music and let their thoughts and dreams run wild, just for a moment."

I'm totally down with that, and you should be too.
