5.0 out of 5 stars Best indie pop record since the Unicorns, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Oh No! Oh My! (Audio CD)
Don't let my use of the word 'record' and reference to the Unicorns up there make you think I'm some pretentious indie music snob who wants to protect his beloved gems for all eternity. Oh No! Oh My!'s debut self-titled album deserves praise for every little second (Well, the vast majority of them) and they need to be made aware of. Three young men playing ecclectic instruments and recording in bedrooms may be somewhat common these days, but not many of them get to play Lollapalooza (I'm certain I butchered the spelling) three days after the release of their first LP. Brilliantly blissful melodies are thrown around like love between friends in the form of sound waves, and never have I heard better use of chimes/mallets/glockenspiel. Each song is meticulously crafted instrumentally so that nothing you hear becomes stagnat. Peppy lyrics dominate, which is a wonderful contrast to ... everything that's out there, really. Simplistic songwriting works perfectly, especially in "Walk in the Park" and the same-line-over-and-over-but-still-wonderful "Reeks and Seeks" and "Women Are Born In Love." I cannot even articulate how much I adore these lovely folks, but, I suggest at least giving them a looksee.I highly doubt that many will be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh No! Oh YES!, March 10, 2007

This review is from: Oh No! Oh My! (Audio CD)
No one can not like this album.

Oh No! Oh My! is probably the sweetest three-piece ever, crooning twists of the phrase ranging from "nice day for a drive-by shooting" to "let's ride bikes into the sea". They know how to craft the tricky melody; the make-dancer; that one song that you keep on repeat, twenty-three times in a row.

Trust me, it's a keeper.
