5.0 out of 5 stars My child LOVES it! April 9, 2012

When I need something to entertain my daughter for a little while, I can pull out my Kindle Fire and open one of these Dr Seuss books, and she is enthralled. I liket the interaction she gets from it, she can point to something on the page and it says what it is as well as the word appearing on the screen. I recommend it, a very good buy, I have not been disappointed in any way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seuss is always good September 9, 2013

And Oceanhouse does an exceptional job of bringing his books to life. I've got 3 or 4 of these app/books and my little one (now 4 years old) loves them. Actually, she bought this one herself (oh my lord I had to find the parental controls) but it's worth keeping. I recommend the Oceanhouse products if you love Seuss.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good solid book app, Narrator isn't the best April 18, 2013
Verified Purchase
I love Dr. Seuss books and was happy to find these apps so my little guy can enjoy a whole library while on-the-go. It's great to have a collection of these apps on my phone & tablet for reading to him while we're out and about without having to carry a bag full of books. And even at 3 months, little guy enjoys the auto-play mode while mommy is getting ready in the mornings (I can even do my hair some mornings!). However, the narrator isn't awesome. The fun of Dr. Seuss is the rhythm and word-play. This narrator is a bit stilted and doesn't capture the rhythms and emphasis that catch the little ones' attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best natural progression in reading development. April 11, 2012
Verified Purchase
I was worried that I was slacking off by having the Kindle read the Sues stories, but from the first sit down we still read them together so shared time is not lost. AaaaaaND! A wondrous thing happened: My four year old had been hearing these stories for so long that he basically has them memorized verbatim by sight of the page. Now, that as the application read to him, HE STARTED READING ALONG WITH THE NARRATOR!!! This was a shock and awe moment that gave me great pride in my choice. The words highlight in read as the narrator reads and so this was the best natural progression in my son's reading development. Also, the touch feature speaks and pulls the word into big form so he is learning the Sues cache of common words at an astounding rate.
Don't be a "I-actually-read-to-my-child" snob because your child's development could be so much greater if you introduce these apps after they "appear" to read the book themselves when actually, they are just mimicking and memorizing.
