Best collection of Canadian pop, rock ever assembled,
By
This review is from: Oh What a Feeling (Audio CD)
This four-cd, 77-song box, first released in 1996 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Canada's Juno Awards, is a lovingly-created tribute to the best music out of the Great White North. Just about every notable Canuck act is represented with one track, including the Guess Who (American Woman and These Eyes, one of few with two songs), BTO (Takin' Care Of Business), Alanis Morrissette (You Oughta Know), Triumph (Magic Power), Steppenwolf (Born To Be Wild), Sarah McLachlan (Hold On), Cowboy Junkies (Misguided Angel), Tom Cochrane (Life Is A Highway) and dozens more. There are plenty of rarities here, simply because lots of these acts were one or two-hit wonders and never made it to CD.If anything, Oh What A Feeling suggests Canadian rock and pop has been pretty safe. But that's understandable; it's hard to push the boundaries and make a living when your market is just 30 million potential music buyers. Still, this package is filled with so many classic rock gems that it's hard to imagine anybody being disappointed.

I borrowed this CD from the public library. Some tracks didn't/wouldn't play ... really liked the CD. Searched Amazon and was gobsmacked to find someone willing to sell it! Super cool! Love it!! Every track plays beautifully and it is mine!! Thanks!

If you don't love these 4 CD's of music, then you don't like Canadian Music. Period. None of these disk is "Crap" as mentioned in earlier reviews. This set (and its retarded little brother Oh What a Feeling 2) are mainstays on my MP3 player. I bop to the stuff my much older sibs and cousins loved (first half of disk 3). I rock to the stuff I grew up with (disks 1 and 2, and some of 4). The later tracks on disk 3 still bring a sentimental tear to my eyes everytime! Ok Celine and K.D. make me barf, but this is gold!I think it is OOP - find a way to get your hands on it!

If ever there was an awsome compalation of good music it's Oh what a feeling Disk 3. Don't be taken aback by Anne Murray on track 1. It gets much better. From Mashmakan's "As the years go by" to Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the sun" it is pure Canadian Gold. Un fortunatlly the other three disks are pretty much crap. The whole set is worth it for disk 3.
