The more I listen to American Authors' new album, the more in absorb how truly American is. Oh, What A Life is as American as A Silent Film's Reaching the Potential is English. The whole album is what Mumford would sound like if they were trying to be American music.

I believe this band is cruising a parallel course to Bastille's rise in England. Maroon5, Train, Keane, or Coldplay would be the right demographic perhaps, but this album fully outshadows that market. It's such a fusion of elements from rock, pop, country and good ole folk music, it's undefinable; like everything and like nothing else. Other than that, it's just fun!

This band is destined to follow in the footsteps of Imagine Dragons with whom an insufficient comparison could be drawn. Look toward the explosive growth of this band in the coming years. I think a Grammys appearance is soon in the offing since they've already covered The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ellen, Kelly & Michael and more!

I still prefer to hear my music digitally raw from a cd and uncompressed. There are several bands that simply deserve that bandwidth of expression. American Authors is one of those bands. Crisp highs, lots of midrange and solid tight bass make this CD a perfect Hi-Fi patio pleaser!

Terrific album. Sounds wonderful in the car on the way to work every day- a real upper! I recommend it - particularly if you like banjo.

Music is not what it use to be and these days it is very hard to even explain to someone what rock music is. While I may be considered an old fossil to the Millennials, I am still making every effort to stick with my favorite bands, but also continue to branch out and find what else is out there. My searches brought me to American Authors. While I have known about this band since the beginning of 2014, it took me a while to really pay attention to them. It was probably because their first single 'Best Day of My Life' just sounded like every other contemporary rock/indy/alternative wannabe out there today. When I heard their second single 'Believer' (which sounded nothing like their first) I had to check them out.

First off, I was impressed about the band's origin, four guys from all four corners of the United States meeting at Berkeley Boston and bringing their sounds from home all together to create something familiar to most, but new to many. These four musicians dive back into the original sounds of alternative even sounds that date all the way back to bands like R.E.M. Something that is rock, but not too loud, yet unique and altogether mind easing. I heard familiar elements of bands like Soul Asylum, Gin Blossoms, Matchbox Twenty and even newer acts like The Fray and Imagine Dragons. These are some of the sounds that really have kept rock alive for the past 20 years and I am glad that American Authors clings to this sounds as much as its fans. Each track is simple and catchy and at the same time complex and deep. Each song is unique on its own and I have to give them props for bringing the banjo back. This is one of the few albums in music for me this year that really stood out and I am pretty upset with myself for taking this long to discover this bands' complete work.
