My 7 year old loves the original Etch A Sketch, so this seemed a logical choice as a Christmas present. He really did enjoy it. You can make better sketches and curves etc. It's already been dropped and drooled and chewed on by our 16 month old, so it's fairly durable so far. The knob seems a bit hard to push, but hopefully will loosen up with use. For some reason, the screen is less than half the size of a regular Etch a Sketch. While it's not the most popular toy this Christmas, he has played with it, and it's a middle of the road price. I'd still take the original over this, but this might make a nice birthday gift for a 4 -9 year old.

This great toy has all the fun of an etch a sketch, without the frustration. I always hated trying to make a diagonal line and never really enjoyed mine as a kid because it felt very limiting. This one still provides my son with hand to eye coordination and creativity, but is a lot more interesting than just making straight lines. He likes trying to write his name with it and it and does spend more time playing with it than I ever did mine.

I got this for a great price, so I cannot complain too much. But for some reason no one in my family thinks this is as much fun as a traditional Etch A Sketch. So far it has been used maybe twice.

I think I may prefer this etch a sketch freestyle to the regular etch a sketch. There is more freedom in making pictures. I can even write in cursive. My boys, ages 3 & 4 received it for Christmas and have enjoyed it. I envision this being something we play with for a long time to come. I wish the screen was larger like the regular etch a sketch, but the size does make it nice for carrying it with you.

This was purchased as a gift, and I was sort of embarrassed to present it. It seemed flimsy and the drawings were very dim.

The grandkids loved these, they're three and three and a half. The parents played with them too!Good toy at a great bargain!

Interesting take on the original. Grandkids liked it but it was difficult if not impossible to "shake" and clear the screen. Probably would not purchase again.

prompt delivery but when opened for Christmas found to be broken so will return. Guess I should have tried it BEFORE wrapping. Never got to play with it.
